What's Up? What are you doing this weekend, the last of May?

Unpacking boxes and then I'll probably have a hefty drink of whisky or two

The last few days we have had a blitz of sport with the play-offs, the cup finals and boxing but apart from the French Open I think we have a rest day tomorrow so time for a break.

Nothing planned other than a fry-up tomorrow morning for breakfast.

yum yum

Hi Quill I love you x

Missed you too.  Been a busy few weeks but I've been around.  We are revamping our front garden and drive to make it (hopefully) less labour intensive.  It's nice having a big garden but keeping it looking nice can turn into a full time job. Not good when you already work full time!

I'm doggy sitting my MIL's two dogs this week so I've taken a weeks holiday.  Max is having fun playing with his buddies

Hope you're keeping well x

THERE ARE certain advantages to concreting driveways...

SLATE isn't commonly or widely used used on driveways over here (different soils and conditions means different materials and methods..).

"Bluemetal" (a crushed igneous rock..), and maybe a coarser aggregate layer for badly drained areas (aka "French Drains"), is used for the drainage layer; sand or 'roadbase' is use to level off, and then either concrete over this after packing and compressing, or lay a gravel or woodchip layer for a "more natural" look.

Talking of woodchips (and mulch and compost, as well) : ARE y'all on here aware that using a 4-prong garden fork will move that loose material 2-3 times faster, with less spillage ~ and less back ache for those not used to it..

I remember dealing with this when I lived in Arizona and the desert southwest. There, the rage was decomposed granite.

I must confess it gives out a clean, finished look, without high maintenance. It goes with low- or no-water flora. And it has a natural look for the desert.

Hi Bee, hope you're well x

Our drive is a combination of block paving and shingle.  We are using the slate to compliment the plants in the borders and hopefully make it less labour intensive.

It's looking good and we are getting there, hopefully will share some pics soon

Do you really?

There's nothing worse than disliking the people you have to spend so much time with at work. I get on great with all the people I work with. I'd hate it if I didn't.

That is sad, I still keep in touch with all my friends I worked with in Taunton, such a lovely bunch, looking forward to having one of them and her husband to stay in a couple of months.

I think it makes all the difference. You could have a great job, but if you can't stand your coworkers, it's just miserable.
