Somebody do something about these nutjobs already:

The church of Scientology in Sydney is facing hostage-holding accusations after a young Taiwanese woman was hospitalized when she punched through a window at the church in order to, as she initially claimed, escape the church’s headquarters in Dundas, Australia.

The incident occurred in March of 2012 after Alice Wu expressed a desire to leave the church’s Sea Organization headquarters. Wu had signed a billion-year contract with the church in 2011, vowing to join this “elite” branch of the church, ABC News reported Tuesday.

Anybody can invent a religion. It's tax free and there are enough gullible humans to give all their money to it and make you rich. It's tax free!!!

Maybe one of our Ozzies can weigh in on this, but I thought Australia was supposed to be pretty good at cracking down on this cult. Didn't that senator, Nick Xenophilius Lovegood or whatever, put a jihad on them or something?

@ben
it hardly exists here, you don't really see them but Oz is a big place with plenty of backroads to nowhere. in arid areas you can buy single properties that stretch further than the eyes can see in every direction, not that anyones out there anyway. So not really surprising that Cults operate in those areas.

there does seem to be an increase in religious nutters targeting our new arrivals(often from the 3rd world) that haven't learnt the glory of Athiesm yet cheers

Thanks, veya -- I can see that. Just another reason wide-open spaces are creepy, to go along with the Children of the Corn, of course. We get that in the boonies here, too (Utah, for example).
