First topic message reminder :

New Scientist reported “the study clearly links sexual orientation in men with two regions of the human genome […] one on the X chromosome and one on chromosome 8.” However study leader Alan Sanders admits, while his work “erodes the notion that sexual orientation is a choice” there is further testing to be done.

He’s currently preparing to publish the next step in the process – “narrow[ing] down to fewer genes” – which really takes the wind out of your sales doesn’t it?

But never fear, science may be slow and painfully specific but everyone’s feeling optimistic. Neuroscientist Simon LeVay says it “knocks another nail into the coffin of the ‘chosen lifestyle’ theory of homosexuality” and, as New Scientist point out, if Sanders is able to narrow down a specific ‘gay gene’ it could have huge implications for gay rights around the world:

“The finding is an important contribution to mounting evidence that being gay is biologically determined rather than a lifestyle choice. In some countries, such as Uganda, being gay is still criminalised, and some religious groups believe that gay people can be "treated" to make them straight.”

Tommy all genes are in everyone it is variation of the gene that make the difference. this is why Didge says there are no genetic races because we all have matching compatible genes just different variants of them. IF someone didn't have the gene at all they would be a different species.

what this is saying is that if you have x variant of a gene then your odds of being gay increase by 10% (for example no numbers yet) they have already identified 5 genes that have an effect of the chance of you being gay. so most people probably have one of 2 of the variants that give them a chance of being gay.

But other homosexuals didn't have these genes and these genes are widely found in heterosexuals too!!!!

So it is a finding of nothing!!!!

If the findings were that homosexuals had these particular genetic markers and heterosexuals didn't then they could well be onto something.

Tommy why do you always shout (!)? Is it due to underlying uncertainty of your own arguments?

A scientific study sets out to try to prove that a certain human behaviour is the consequence of a specific set of genetic markers in dna.

The results find that these markers are found in only some of the people with this behaviour and also found in others who don't have this behaviour......

So what does that prove???

Nothing!!!!

What bit of this do you not understand?

What I understand is that YOU DON'T UNDERSTAND
or Didn't read the Article

Only five SNPs stood out and of these, the ones most commonly shared were from the Xq28 and 8q12 regions on the X chromosome and chromosome 8 respectively. But this doesn't mean the study found two "gay genes". Both regions contain many genes, and the next step will be to home in on which ones might be contributing to sexual orientation.

Shared by all people.....

Not j exclusive to homosexuals......

And they found many of their homosexuals in The study did not share these genes.....

So some homosexuals had these genes, some homosexuals didn't, some heterosexuals had these genes and some heterosexuals didn't.

Some had eggs for breakfast. Some didn't, some had cornflakes, some didn't....

Some homosexuals had tea, some had coffee, some heterosexuals had tea, some had coffee......

Do you see the connection yet.....?????

well if we got exact numbers that had eggs for breakfast then I might be able to

and As these people with the exact numbers for a 800 person sample the largest EVER done on the subject (so still not big enough to give conclusive answers) have been able to find the connections your whole statement is just you ranting your own ignorance.

And Again EVERYONE had the Genes Sections. they are not switches or fucking coins that you can say person has or doesn't. EVERYONE HAS THEM and there are near infinite variations as New variations get created with every generation.

lets break it down further and maybe you will understand (I wont hold my breath)

the Xq28 and 8q12 Are regions on the X chromosome both those regions exist in EVERYONE and contain Multiple genes.

Variations in these REGIONS are correlated to Variations in sexual Preference.
They have not yet determined the Specific genes in the region let alone which ones specifically affect sexual desire. But they know that one/some of the genes in these regions are having an effect on sexual orientation.

Literally everything you have written doesn't support your argument it just shows you Do not understand genetics or genes at all, I mean "shared by all people" Suspect Suspect Suspect well yes, of course, I mean did you think homosexual were a different species? that doesn't even make sense as a statement and 'exclusive gene' doesn't even make sense as a concept, if it has a completely different gene than it is a different species, and an 'exclusive gene' could only in the last or only individual of a species.

Think you need to read the article again.....

Only some homosexuals had these genetic markers.....

Not all, or even most.....

And heterosexuals had them too!!!!!

Where do you get that ????
It does NOT say that anywhere in either of the articles I posted????

The team combed through the samples, looking at the locations of genetic markers called single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) – differences of a single letter in the genetic code – and measuring the extent to which each of the SNPs were shared by the men in the study.

The only trait unequivocally shared by all 818 men was being gay. All other traits, such as hair colour, height and intelligence, varied by different degrees between each brothers in a pair and between all sets of brothers. Therefore, any SNPs consistently found in the same genetic locations across the group would most likely be associated with sexual orientation.

And it only Sequenced Gay men? so How the fuck did you even get that idea? Smile

Says in The article that some shared this genetic markers so some must not have done.

And another similar study admitted that these genetic markers are found in other non homosexuals too!!!

Your scientific study has found nothing!!!!
