The Hate Thread

Post by Ben Reilly on Tue Jul 15, 2014 6:17 am

First topic message reminder :

I've never seen anyone make a thread about things they hate. Maybe we all just want to live in Eddie's little sheep painting ( Smile ), but I've always been interested in the things other people hate -- beyond the obvious.

So here are the (non-obvious) things I hate; feel free to join in the hate-fest!

Anything done by singer-songwriter Jewel.

People who are polite in personal situations (i.e. restaurants) but act like bastards in impersonal situations (i.e. while driving).

Seafood.

Wine coolers.

Musicians who imitate other musicians without openly acknowledging it.

Bad guys on TV or movies who turn into good guys at the end, especially when they were awesome bad guys to begin with.

People who socialize in grocery stores while others are trying to fucking shop (i.e. navigate their carts and be done in a timely manner).

People who hint at the point they're trying to make instead of for-God's-sake MAKING it.

People who like things (apparently) for the sole reason that a lot of other people like them.

People who hate things (apparently) for the sole reason that a lot of other people like them.

I should probably stop here ...

The NRA are here to stay, as is racism...America is a racist nation. Those things are givens.

The Republicans have shut down the government, so no programs are working. And of course, Democrats are gonna go quid pro quo, and shut it down when Republicans are in power. I would say we are looking at 40-years of dysfunction in government. Enough for our lifetimes.

TYPICAL of nicko - like so many of his kindred extremist spirits, he has to demonstrate that he hasn't a clue as to the differences between "brainwashing" and indoctrination !!!

AND EVEN then, one of their most common rejoinders when they know that they have lost the plot and are making utter fools of themselves, is to claim that everyone around them "has been brainwashed !"  What a Face

I live near the coast, Lake and estuaries, and there are professional fish co-ops reasonably close..

AS for mangoes ~ they grow well around here, but a lot better again a few hours north where they don't have the winters to interrupt their activities.  The only reason i don't have a mango in the backyard is that I simply don't have the space for one (some mature trees that I have seen had a spread of over 30 m/100 feet !).    Even then, when the mango season is well under way down here, you can buy them for only a dollar or two each for big fresh specimens, especially if you buy them by the tray or box (holds two or three trays..).

Pretty much their rampant homophobia.

Fluffy, in what way are they Homophobic? Are you basing your views on the views of a few nutters? If you are, you are tarring them all with the same brush. One of their policies, and it is only one, is an end to unlimited immigration which your lovely Labour party introduced, [do you agree with that by the way] to call the whole ukip party Homophobic is the action of someone with a closed mind.

There are so many UKIP 'nutters' though! That was just one example, there are many many more as I'm sure you know.

Immigration does not really affect me where I live so I am always cautious when debating it. I do feel immigrants who come here to work really help the country and in particular have rescued the NHS. I didn't personally have a problem with Labour's immigration policy.

However Labour aren't really LW enough of me,they are just the best of a bad bunch. They are not really my idea of a true Labour party.

Fluffy, come to b,ham and walk down Alum Rock rd there will be hundreds of people there, if I gave you a £1 for every white face you might have enough for a visit to the cinema. You live in Wales you haven't a clue.

But why would I feel uneasy about not being surrounded by 'white faces' though? What's wrong with faces of different colours?

I have lived in London, albeit many years ago, and the area I lived in was predominantly Turkish/Kurdish. So this is not a new thing. I didn't feel threatened then so I don't see why i would now tbh.

You are also mistaken about immigration r.e Wales. In Cardiff and Bridgend there are plenty of immigrants,I just happen to live in a small seaside town sort of removed from( modern) life  king  But enough people complain about it also in Wales and have a similar viewpoint to your own.

Is the problem with immigration that folk feel people are taking jobs meant for those born here? Or do they feel they are losing their own culture? Surely the more diverse and individual a society is the more it will flourish.

Are you capable of going beyond the headlines? The guy in the story had been ranting exactly the same thing for years as a representative of the Tory party.

And do you seriously base your opinion on a huge group of people on a few selected for negative publicity?

I guess you do - hence my comment about disliking those making judgements about things they have not bothered to check for truth themselves

Immigration has got bugger all to do with colour of faces or creed. Nor is there a problem that all immigrants are terrorists, criminals or refuse to fit in with the indigenous culture (although some do fit into those groups)

As for it not affecting you - it does only you dont realize it. For the first time in history we are living in an economy that is showing significant growth while wages and standards of living are dropping.

The country as a whole is producing more money. Individual employees are getting less of it.

If you do get a pay rise - it will be smaller than in any other equivalent growth period. You may not get one at all.

If you become ill it will take you longer to be able to see a doctor - at all levels from taking a couple of extra days to see a GP to a couple of extra weeks to see the specialist (if you see them at all - you might see one of their team, a junior less experienced doctor). Of course you will not notice this unless you have regularly been needing doctor appointments and referrals for 20 years.

I could go on but I have already stated the biggest effect. The economy is growing. Standards of living are dropping.

No,its not just a select few. There are numerous UKIP members who were revealed to have racist, sexist or homophobic attitudes.

Does anyone know what UKIP's policies actually are, besides wanting to halt immigration??

I bow to your better knowledge here.

Again try looking beyond the headlines. It actual records are counted the other parties each actually have more members and representatives arrested, prosecuted, and convicted of offences involving racism sexism (where did that one come from by the way?) or homophobia.

The actual polices for the general election campaign will be formally announced at the party conference end of September - but there is a hint at some at http://www.ukip.org/tim_aker_outlines_some_of_our_2015_policies.

For me the biggest point is the taking minimum wage out of tax - At the moment an individual on 40 hours a week minimum wage will earn £13,124 (after October 1st it will be £13,520) but they will pay tax on this because the threshold is £10,000.

There will be others - education, more detail on health, etc and those in the article will be fully detailed and costed.

I will also stress that UKIP are not anti immigration - as that article shows. We just want controlled immigration. The right to say no to criminals and terrorists. To give consideration to what employment sectors are over crowded already before having more people looking for work within them. I do not see Australia or New Zealand or Canada or the US being accused of being anti immigration because they have rules about who can have residence there. UKIP just want the same sort of thing.

If UKIP are truly planning to take the minimum wage out of tax then that is a brilliant policy. But if they were to get elected would they actually put that legislation in place?

I am disgusted by people who are currently only earning ten thousand a year paying a tax,its unfair. But if UKIP do honestly plan to change that then that is a policy I welcome.

I must concur that alot of my mindset regarding Newsfix is due to the negative press they receive and will attempt to educate myself a bit more about them. Smile

Your question of "but if they got in would they actually do that" has been asked many many times. For an answer I simply point people in the direction of where UKIP have been elected into local positions. The answer is an overwhelming "Yes they will" and areas where they started with a single town councillor see a massively increased vote at higher levels simply because people are experiencing that UKIP really are different - they really do do things differently. Unfortunately this message will take time because unless and until it happens in your area you wont believe it. If you want to research it yourself have a look at the Suffolk area.

Not sure what planet you are from , but the US and Australia are constantly being accused of being anti immigration and to claim UKIP are not anti immigration is a load of bullshit being as they are very vocal in their discrimination as they were of Romanians, basically claiming they were all collectively criminals, based upon poor claptrap, with a view to install fear into the general public of a mass invasion.
That is being anti immigration.
There is no way to know who is a criminal or a terrorist, unless you have evidence that they are and is a poor excuse to try and again use fear to collectively shown disdain towards ethnic or religious groups of people. You can try and deny it all you like, where Nigel may be a great speaker, when unprepared as he was for the radio show, he got annihilated and proven to be as racist as they come stating he would not or claim anyone would not live next door to a Romanian. UKIP show a complete load of bullshit, that plays on fear to entice support and nothing more, their policies are nothing short of a joke
