Will this clear things up re Hackergate?

Post by eddie on Fri Jul 11, 2014 8:57 pm

First topic message reminder :

After someone asked Admin dean on Flap forum a question this was his reply.
I will highlight what I believe to be the relevant section:

FlapGallagher wrote:
the chit chat section and 70000 posts disappeared when sassy made her complaint, the only conclusion is that FM or sassy's hacker friend deleted them as I certainly did not. there is no mention of them being deleted in the admin panel and it shows all changes done to the forum and users. so whoever deleted them had direct access to the databases, something admins on FM sites do not have.

So if forumotion have no direct access to the databases, who deleted them and how?

There is no evidence of any hacking.Buttercup has spoken to litigation and they have decided to reinstate the posts and issue an apology to Dean.
Pretty sure it doesn`t say that

One minute Dean is to blame for naffing off for weeks
now he is supposed to have colluded ?

Well you tell me, how can they tell from a bunch of posts whether anything has been hacked?
They cannot, all they can tell is that some PMs from some posters have landed with another poster, which they cannot rule out this has come from a poster who sent them, can they.

There is no evidence of any hacking, the possibilities to do this are remote which leads two possible outcomes.

This was a set up to get a Dean, or one of the friends you have is not as friendly as you think.

If the section was deleted from the server, I doubt they can get it back anyway.

If Chit Chat is back up online with all threads, then clearly this response he got is very real and clearly Forum Motion have washed their hands of the affair, because there is no evidence of any hacking.

Sorry, myself and Dean have had ding dongs, but again you are thinking your view is more valid here, when I am not going by either of your views on each other.
The Chit Chat section is back, that means the email is legit, that means, Forum motion have washed their hands of this and clearly do not think any hacking has occurred. If it is not about hacking then clearly my two possibilities has to be one of the causes as to how this happened

No problem, as I say I see no case for any hacking only that either someone you know has shafted you or this was a set up!,

That, with respect Andy, is pure speculation. In fact I'd go further and say that it's a most unfair allegation based on little more than your personal animosity towards Dean and the In a Flap forum. (OK, so that may well be reciprocated, but it doesn't give you the right to accuse him, even by inference, of colluding with anyone. I myself have not been around much lately, but I understand that he was absent when the whole thing blew up.)

And before anyone draws attention to my long standing friendship with both Dean and Hugh, may I please make it plain that I have absolutely no idea as to the truth about the situation, for which reason I have deliberately tried to keep well out of it.

Dean was so absent he replied on one of Hugh's posts, took off the posts when he realised it was being taken seriously, moaned on the Forumotion thread, and emailed both myself and HA..

Not only that, if you were going to hack, you would get the best juicy gossip, not the mundane stuff that as posted, which begs the question on my points already stated.

As one of the most qualified member of this forum when it comes to such matters.

I can tell you in my expert opinion and i have said this repeatedly before
And given that I have only what has been said on hear about it and i have not seen the PM`s

My opinion

1 Was the PM system hacked by dean or any member of flaps

No

First of all he would need server side access to the main servers
He would need a pretty detailed understanding of routers /firewalls packets and frames ip routing subnets domains ect ect ect
He would need to be able to program scripts and he would need a Linux box to have any hope of succeeding
And that's just off the top of my head

Dean, Hugh and that little twat Durham haven`t got the smarts

The fact dean is all over the FM support site asking for help with some pretty basic script blows any accusation dean could hack anything

2 The pms
Where did they come from
Both Andy and sassy state they are real and i have no reason to doubt them
So ether
1 they were sent accidentally to someone
Who passed them on this can be cleared up by huge all he has to do is say where he got them mystery solved (this is the most likely )

2 somebody guessed their password not impossible, but again unlikely

i dont know the truth, but I know deans not a hacker, he like everybody else who is an admin has no access to PM sent by members without the user having to change the password when they next log on therefore they are rumbled
did that ever happen ?

Hello Flap

It is done Flap. Check it but I think the chit chat section is now online. Again I am sorry for the trouble.
We are all humans and we make sometimes mistake. The ligitigation must have sent you an email or at least explained me the situation before.
Even if it's no excuse, I think Sassy sent to the litigation team at least one complaint per day.

If any other questions feel free to ask.

Have a nice day

IMo
Where ever the emails/PM came from and that has yet to be determined hugh posted them that's a fact
That caused arguments and accusations of hacking witch i believe was the intent in the first place
However the appearance it gave was serious enough for FM to delete a whole section
Whether that section is to be reinstated is still a question not answered and the PM from BC doesn't say it will
Remember she is a part time admin the litigation team out rank her I am guessing
and it appears to still be in there hands

Actually everyone has forgotten when this happened before, on ADO, with PM's left on the visitor section of a poster or do you not remember that? So there is that possibility also. There was no appearance as seen there was countless complaints daily.
There is nothing in their hands, they washed their hands of it, this is obvious, you seem more in the hope Dean has done something wrong, I would not want or wish that on anyone, more is the point why do you, when it is clear he is innocent of any wrong doing!

here is the message from Buttercup

Best Regards

Buttercup

Thank you so much, will pass that to Buttercup, because I made two, the second to give them more proof, which I could not give them in the first.

Why should he?

He has had some poor allegations and just wants it over with and to clear his name here, that I guess is sufficient to him!
Sassy has access to PM them, and has copied these to them, but again ChitChat has been restored, which backs these emails as being legit!

I have had replies, which is why I think Flap is lying and which is why I have given your information to Buttercup.   So thank you. Also given her the link to this thread.

Calm down dear, its nothing personal, so why are you taking it personal , when I am giving my view.

Seriously you do not remember Dibsgate, well there is your answer to yesterday on smoking, memory loss!

Wow how infantile your last point, that you would even think that of a person just who you know through the internet, that is clear issues you have there.

Its only here where there is any crap that is being claimed, so again, no there is no need for him to do so, is there? How you think is different to how others think
