There are almost too many good ones to choose just one; one thing I find about 80s movies is that they didn't seem to feel they had to be as slick as movies now. More dirt and gross-out moments, etc. ... Remember how slicked-up the Star Wars prequels were compared to the original trilogy?

I feel the same way about music, actually. I don't see anything raw and primal being released by a major label these days, I doubt even Nirvana could manage to sign to a major label now.

^^^ Kurt Cobain completely loses control of his voice at around 2:14; I bet these days they'd make him re-record it ...

Cool

Bladerunner  (Blade Runner in North America..).

Runners up:
Terminator; and Raiders of the Lost Ark..

(Some of my favourites just miss out: Star Wars and Apocalypse Now were late 1970s, while Total Recall and T2 were early '90s..).
