So am I racist then?

Post by eddie on Fri May 09, 2014 8:11 am

First topic message reminder :

I think I am a more honest person if anything.

I know this sounds cliche, but I started off my teen life hanging around and dating, mostly black guys. I can safely say, I have a few very good and intelligent black friends.

They admit to stereotypes within their race, as there is within the white, English race and in every race. I bring race up with almost EVERY SINGLE person I end up properly chatting to (evenings out, coffee mornings etc) and most people are bloody honest about stuff - I've had an Indian lady say to me in their house they put on cockney accents and call each other "John" and say "Shall we have an English?" Meaning they're having fish and chips lol
If I said that, on here, that I do a great Pakistani accent when I read the Indian menu (I have no real issue with halal, btw) then I'd be called a racist!

I am brilliant at an Indian accent and my very Indian friend Shatl, can verify this  cheers

So am I racist?

Well seeing as you're the one that started the bitching on this thread I find that a bit rich, not to mention hypocritical.
There endeth my involvement in this now infantile thread.

I'm sorry but the sentence 'what's wrong with being racist?' started the infantile behaviour on this thread. What's next,'whats wrong with abuse and murder?' Sleep

Thanks for chipping in with your obvious bias though, very helpful.

Well you don't seem to think there's anything wrong with being racist - you condone the use of the N word.

Did you know that people can be racist without actually doing anything about it? However, abuse and murder are actions, not thoughts.

Well personally I don't understand racists and their way of thinking - I find it quite horrid actually.
But I'd like to see your question answered properly as you do have a point.

You're really saying, why does everyone have to conform?

IMO the world should be equal as no one race or person is superior to another. The world doesn't work and is unfair when one race is held down.
It's cruel to treat people badly because of skin colour...

I hope that's answered your question?

It mattered to me because she acted on her prejudice. If she had not done that, I wouldn't have cared that she disliked me for being English.

Maybe it wasn't you being English, maybe she just disliked you.

No, she disliked someone else because they were English too. She used very bigoted language.

That sometimes goes on either side of the fence.

Oh. I think it's time to forget it.

I know other people who have been abused in Wales and Northern Ireland.

Sad, pathetic, but...?

Eh? The point is that I didn't care if she didn't like English people. It was a follow on from my question about whether it mattered if people were racist? They don't necessarily act on it.

Ah, sorry - very good point.

There may well be 50 million racists in this country.

Indeed Ragga!

They don't necessarily not act on it either:

Les did a thread on their party political broadcast that they weren't allowed to show, anyone this racism is dead should look at it.
