A lovely coffee stop at the end of a memorable train journey over the Settle viaduct on a steam choo choo. Couldn't work out why so many guys were in the bushes with long lenses all the way along the track, we hadn't announced our travel plans in advance.

The Flying Scotsman was going from Carlisle south................... In full steam.......... Magnificent.

OVER here, there's plenty of people who reckon Tasmania doesn't deserve to be a State ~ as they have neither the population nor the revenue (both of which are significantly less than the Hunter Valley region; or the City of Brisbane..) ~ and they only got their statehood through an accident of history anyway, being a completely separate self-governing colony to Victoria at the time of Federation..    :-:bravo:-:

As someone who lives in Carlisle the best thing about it, is the stunning scenery and arts and culture within 10 min's and a couple of hours drive Gerber  Sad . So a pretty good base.

@ JD The Sands has bloody awful sound for bands, it's a sports centre,  pretending to be a music venue. The Sage Gateshead is the nearest descent music  venue.

..ah Stephen I liked Carlisle Castle, where prisoners of yesteryear were forced to drink the only water available by way of a trickle down the damp castle walls...unless they were given water of course!

We have taken our caravan to a croft that has a site on the white beaches............... Very close to the silver sands....

Unbelievable, the people, the coast the views the hotel bar very close by, and the fish factory shop in Mallaig, not to mention the crofters' son best buddy who lobster pots... Fresh Lobster from the quay in Arisaig £5 each. We had 6.

Being in a caravan had no large pans................ he brought down his " Ma's pan " and instructed us to use sea water to cook............. A veritable feast never forgotten......
