Schoolgirls at mixed secondary school are reduced to tears after headteacher tells them 'short skirts make them targets for sexual harassment'

Post by Guest on Thu Sep 13, 2018 2:57 pm

First topic message reminder :

Parents have hit out at a headteacher who they say told girls that wearing shorter skirts would encourage sexual harassment.

Children returned to Bishop of Hereford's Bluecoat School this month and sat through an assembly about their new school uniform. But acting headteacher Martin Henton has been criticised after the topic of discussion turned to 'sexual threats' and harassment. Parents say girls came home in tears after believing the message was that shorter skirts would encourage sexual predators.

Mr Henton has denied accusations of 'victim blaming', insisting the girls must have misunderstood the message of the assembly. Mother Ceri Robinson, 43, said she has no problem with the new skirt, but is 'stunned' it has been linked to sexual harassment.

She said: 'My daughter and her peers were told the longer skirt was aimed at keeping the girls safe from sexual harassment. I am quite stunned that this was deemed acceptable.

'The endorsement of the view in the 21st Century that women and girls have to protect themselves from sexual harassment can be the fault of the victim has a negative impact on the young people who should have trust in the school.

'Any victim of any kind of abuse should be confident in talking to a teacher. The message of this assembly undermines that.'

I'm in favour of school uniforms. I was in favour of them when I was at school as well.

It was like that when I went to school, probably the same for you, but nowadays girls seem to be a lot more savy. Till a couple of years ago I would be on a local bus when all the schoolkids from two secondary schools piled on. The girls had backcombed beehives, all trying to look like Tina out of Coronation street, some of them looked about 20, and their language, calling back and forth to lads from a nearby school was quite an education.
In contrast the boys looked a lot younger and almost cowed by the biggest and brashist of the girls.

It was indeed like that in my day, even down to the Secondary Mod girls. A few of the girls by Form 5 would wear mascara but if any teachers noticed they had to wash it off. We also used to have uniform check days, lined up in the yard and length of skirts checked, girls also had to be wearing the school beret. both boys and girls ties were checked that they were worn in the proper way not the short thick part showing with most of the thin bit tucked in your blouse/shirt, boys had to have their school cap on, shoes were lace ups for both boys and girls. The worst part for girls in the first couple of years I was there were thick green knickers (proper elasticated legs)that we wore for gym and shame and embarrassment, for hockey. We also had to tuck the gym tops into them which made them more bulky, the playing field was right next to the road, in year three it changed to shorts .

I have.

Didge wrote:Based on what evidence?

Sorry but psychologically its actually the opposite, because they are coming of age being inquisitive of attraction with both boys and girls

So I think you are basing this soley on your perceived views and not the reality of how many girls feel today in this day and age

Hence you lack emphatic intelligence mate

I disagree.  You say that girls are not trying to be attractive and sexually appealing, but the facts are all around you.  What is the entire fashion industry doing, but feeding a desire to be appealing.

Didge wrote:Well the reason why guys like porn and also a number of women do, is it provides excitment and titillation. A world free from rejection or having someone say no to you. I mean your hand is never going to say no to your desires are they Quill?. Which is not even the point here as porn only drives fantasies for people based off a particular sexual like they have

I hope you are not defending porn.  My point is that eroticism is entirely different for men versus women.

I became interested when I noticed that my daughters were much more cerebral about relationships.  A Swiss sexologist came up with the above synopsis.  I can't find the exact article now, but here is an example:

Doktor wrote:How Are Men And Women’s Attraction Different?

Understand how women are different

1)    Women in general are more intuitive than men. They can sense you before you even walk up to them.
2)    Women are more sensitive and emotional, so if you haven’t built a rapport with them, anything can change in a moment.
3)    Most women are not looking for a one-night-stand. You are being tested and evaluated regardless of how casual the encounter seems. Regardless whether if they are able to get pregnant or not, they are biologically wired not to sleep with the village idiot because they can get pregnant.
4)    Female sexual turn-on begins in the brain but only with parts of the brain deactivated such as the amygdala so impulses can reach the pleasure centers. This is why TRUST is so important.
5)    Relationships and connecting with people rules most women’s hearts. Women do not fear tension and will invest more time into a relationship regardless of how significant the other person is.
6)    If connected to their true feminine essence, most women do not want to be in control. They do not need to be right if they feel cherished. It is innate for them to want to be protected and guided by healthy masculine presence.

What are women attracted to and desire in men?
1)    The number one attraction for women is strength. Strength can take the form of stability, protection, or being a standup guy. You can exhibit strength regardless of how much money you make.
2)    How you set your stage before you approach a woman has a lot to do with whether or not she will be attracted to you. In other words, if you are nervous or desperate, more than likely the outcome will not be to your liking.
3)    Women want to feel something beyond the surface, even in a brief conversation. You will only be memorable if you create some emotional spark.
4)    She needs to be able to trust your navigating skills. Are you the captain of your own ship? Are you clear with your direction in life?
5)    You cannot be more emotional than her unless you prefer to be the most feminine character and her be the masculine character. She must not feel like you need her. Women want to feel the presence of a man, not a boy.

Understand how men are different
1)    Men prefer less distractions, drama, and emotional transactions that could deter them from their goals. The more difficult you make it for them, typically the less interested they might become.
2)    Men are more logical. They think about things more than connecting the experience to emotions. When you say things, they hear you literally. They might pay attention more to your words rather than what you are feeling in that moment.
3)    Men are also looking for the “one” but could have emotionless sex with a woman they just met.
4)    Men have a sexual pursuit area in the brain that is 2.5 times larger than the equivalent in the female brain. A man can become sexually aroused without any conversation. Men’s brains are geared toward assessing potential mates by visually seeing if they are healthy.
5)    Having a good career, a clear path, and organized life is what empowers men. Men fear losing their direction being involved in interpersonal relationships that evoke emotions.
6)    If connected to their true masculine nature, most men want to be in control. They want to be right and in charge of things. They feel their best when they can fix or help things.

What are men attracted to and desire in women?
1)    Men (masculine men) are attracted to women who offer a variety of feminine energy. It could be construed as beauty, movement, voice, playfulness, gentleness, and creativity. Your career, money, or intellect is not as important as than the light that you bring into his life.
2)    If you appear too busy you might not be approached. If you are not smiling inside it will project that you are not approachable. Men seek light and all where they fall short in their own femininity.
3)    If you are emitting energy that feels clingy or that you are lonely, you will attract your receptacle which is a man who is lost. Strong men are attracted to women who carry themselves as an expression of love rather than women who are seeking a lover to make them feel good about themselves.
4)    One thing that will make you more attractive to men is relinquishing the masculine/determined approach to finding “the one” but staying connected to love itself and the flow of life.
5)    He wants to be appreciated by you. He needs to feel like the hero in some places in your life. He wants to feel like you possibly need (not clingy or desperate but to experience greater love) him in your life.

Didge wrote:Where did I claim that?

never did
My point is on how people seem to thing exposing the thigh is some how wrong
Of course the legs of men nd women are sexually appealling to men and women
So again stop making false claims to things I never said
People are more phsyically attracted to facial looks, before any body looks. The body looks are secondary. People are certainly turned on by the sexual attraction with the body, but the face is more important.

A guy can have the fittest body in the world, but if he is but ugly. Then many women physcially are going to be put off

Um, did I not give proper credit? I'm not even an expert, and you think I wrote all that? To plagiarize is to claim the words of another as your own. A chap named Dr. Ray Doktor wrote it, as I indicated. What I said, and I repeat:

Original Quill wrote:A Swiss sexologist came up with the above synopsis. Here is an example:

Seems clear, I'm attributing the article to another...which is not plagiarizing.

But, I'm more interested in your last sentence:

Didge wrote:That makes me feel better than you bud

Are you haunted by bad feelings about yourself, ordinarily? Are you a narcissist in need of a fix? Trump behaves like everything is about him, and his actions are considered compensatory.

Perhaps a little counselling will help you...

I didn't turn it on you mate. You did:

By your own words, you turned it on yourself.  I'm most concerned about your competitive motives.  As this was just an interesting conversation about dress codes and such, why and how did you manage to steer it onto yourself?

Not at all.  It's not about me.  Nor is it about Vintage.

You've turned this into a discussion about you.  This was just an interesting conversation about dress codes and such.  Now it's all about how you are the expert and how, in your own words: "that makes me feel better than you."   Shocked

That's pretty sociopathic, mate. Evil or Very Mad
