First topic message reminder :

Eddie asked the question to someone in the  other thread, so.... do we see ourselves as others see us? I doubt it somehow. Laughing

We all have opinions of others on forums, some peoples opinions about us  seems to be set in stone even before they actually read what we have to say ... others are more open minded and actually listen to what our views are, responding to them and not some preconceived notion of what they think we mean....….either way, we all have our favourite posters (yes we do)

So what is your opinion, which may differ greatly from others, about the varied and interesting posters on this forum?

Until one kicks the ass of a bully.  I remember when I was in middle school this certain overweight guy grew into a bully.  Everyone talked about him, feared him, but I never had any problem with him (I'm 6'2" and was then too).  Until...one day he decided to try it on me.  I promptly kicked his ass into next week.

Then a strange thing happened.  He began to puppy-dog around behind me, inviting me to his home, showing up on weekends...like I say, puppy-dogging.  He was basically admitting his ultimate frailty, and his submissive behavior was an invitation inside his shell to the one who overcame his compensatory behavior.

Taught me a lot about the authoro-submissive personality.  I still never liked him.  It made me feel guilty...like I owed him something because I humiliated him.  So I tolerated him until he went away.

You can't get that with cyber-bullies.  Their confirmatory catharsis is always in their own mind, and they inevitably perceive themselves a winner.  BTW, did you hear the tape of Bob Woodward and Trump: "I'm the greatest president ever"...I want to hear that when he's got the orange jumpsuit on.
Online bullying is in a way even worse than real life bullying.
At least a bully can meet his match or face justice when he does it face to face....faceless bullies who do it hidden behind their computers seem to have free reign.

I have just watched a video of Colleen Nolan crying her eyes out and standing down from her job on TV's Loose women because of the relentless bullying she has been receiving from trolls.

You can't break their jaw and be done with it. They will always think that they are the winner.

That's why I brought that special scene with Trump, where he was in a rage about the WH staffer who wrote that OP ed. All he could think to say is...I am the greatest president ever...ever...ever.

The answer is to ignore online bullies....treat them like the trolls they are.
The problem is they find ways of garnering support, for every online bully there are usually people who either enjoy the spectacle of seeing someone else bullied, or join in, in the hope that if they support the bullying they will be left alone.

I'm not talking about this forum btw, I am talking of the wider issue where bullies/trolls invade peoples private lives more.

Okay, do you really think I am a bully?

As is your point to counter them no better than being a bully yourself?

Do you see how beliefs form?

If someone claims someone is a bully, based on a view, then people think its okay to do the exact same?

With me, I take it in my stride when people are abusive

Granted others cannot and even I can learn not to push too far, but nobody, including you, has not been guilty of insulting and bullying

That is a fact

So when people claim to be saints, they are not Syl, as i am sure people have been hurt over things you have said.

I mean people have no idea on what is hurtful, they play this card over words viewed to be hurtful

They are simple mean words and we are now growing up in a society, where people are basically emotionally compremised all the time.

What are we teaching with this?

Seriously?

Well you asked so I will answer.

I do think you bully people sometimes Didge, but I dont think you realise that you do. You try to brow beat people into agreeing with your own viewpoint, you often wont accept people see things differently to you, and you wont let it go.
When people walk away from the thread you do often claim victory, and I think you really do believe you have won the argument/debate....not realising that people are just fed up countering points that often dont even have anything to do with the original points made.

I dont for one minute think your bullying is the type that deliberately wants to hurt people, and I dont think you are a nasty troll either....which is what I was talking about in my previous post.

I dont think pointing out someone is bullying is a more subtle way to bully.

I may have hurt other peoples feelings...never intentionally though, unless someone is being a repeated arse....then it's allowed imo. I think sometimes you mix up retaliation with bullying....they are completely different.

Thank you for being honest, but to me this is a failing you have here

You say brow beating people with my views is bullying

So for that view point, you must feel that any political view point or religious must be bullying?

So when someone says, that if you do not believe this way, you are going to suffer unimaginable pain if ou do not. Why do you not apply the same logic that you are doing to me here?

This is what is preached daily in religious institutions and schools daily

You see you have no idea about me.

I constantly want to challenge peoples opinions and yet you see this is me brow beating them

Of course I am going to take them to task on their views, but you do not apply the same logic to people with religious or political views

I want to challenge people on their views and yes I do get perssonal, which is my failing

That is not bullying, because real bullying would mean me maintaining this position constantly with you

I never do that. I simple fall foul at times and get annoyed like any human as you do

I mean for you to say I am not a nasty troll, means you think i am a troll

wow

I think you have a great heart, but at times are misguided. That does not mean you do not have a good heart. You do

I have many imperfections and try to learn from them every day. What I try to do is challenge people onm their beliefs

Now I have been slated verbally and with abuse the last few days and what was my reaction?

I take it in my stride

If I am abusive, then the shit hits the fan

Why?

Not one of you plays a consistancy reality here, do you?

That is why I laugh

I get slated and abused daily and stil post

Like you I do not intentioally mean to hurt anyone, but here is a good example. I am being made out to be a bully, when having more abused thrown at me and what do I do

Take it in my stride

I do not want to see anyone suffer, but am not afriad to cal people out on bad beliefs

It shows i can take criticism, where others cannot

You try to force your points of view onto everyone not just me, force as in brow beat....continuously.
You demand answers, even when the other poster has said all they need to say, if they ignore you you think they have been defeated, in reality they just get sick of repeating themselves.

It gets personal when you continuously call other people idiots, or say they have 'poor views' when often that persons view is just as good as yours.....just different.

Yes you do argue passionately....nothing wrong with that, and I dont think anyone has suggested otherwise.

That is just nonsense

So if a preacher down the street is basically spouting bible verses, is that being forced onto you, or can you walk away?

I ask people to answer questions, as to me, they are not being in the spirit of debate and being a copout

What is wrong with asking people to answer a question?

I mean have you ever seen a real debate?

If people fail to answer questions, they generally lose that debate

I mean do I tell you how to debate here?

Seriously?

is that then not you trying to make me post in a way you like and not how I like?

I mean using your reasoning, is that you forcing?

That is not to say you are not an interesting poster, because you often are....and none of us are perfect.

Blimey, if you think some mean words from me in a debate is bullying, I would hate for you to meet someone who does actually bully poeple

I have never claimed to be perfect and this is what annoys me no end

I have not seen many posters say they are wrong or make a complete change on views as I have, by the fact that I have listened to posters on here

I mean how many posters actually ever admit they are wrong on here?

I have and have listened to posters, who reasoned so well their points it made me question my own beliefs. Where i then rationalized they were right and I was wrong.

I rarely see posters apologise or say sorry for what they have said and yet I will apologise for being a twat

Because I am more vocal, I am the centre of their attention

When people start singing off the same hymn sheet Syl, then I must start listening to them as much as the posters I already do respect.

They never bust my balls over this and just debate me.

I dont want to tell anyone how to post and  I certainly am not trying to force my views onto you, you asked me a question and I answered it....it sometimes comes across (to me at least) that you bully and harass people.

You are misinterpreting what I have said. Where did I say posters should sing off the same hymn sheet? Different views are what makes a forum interesting.
Its not the mean words that bully....its the constant haranguing that wears people down, or more likely ends the debate.

And yes, I have met real life bullies and forum bullies......there are many different ways to bully....not one size fits all.

I am not misinterpreting anything here

You either accept the way i debat or you do not and like i say when you start singing off the same judgemental hymn sheet you give me tp others. Then I might actually start listening to you more

People often say things in anger.

Does it mean that they mean the words they use?

Maybe you are. I know of at least two posters who have said such in the last few weeks.

Maybe, like any hobby or pastime forums run their course then lose their appeal.

I still enjoy them, but I can see the day coming when I wont.

I know what you mean.
I probably post more than most.....but when we are in Wales the connection is bad so I rarely log in.....and tbh I scarcely think about forums.

But often an online chat or a good debate (or row) is better than watching TV or reading a book. Cool

You are right about that, as long as it stays more or less on track, it's a turn off when the thread collapses into a couple of posters arguing about who is the stupidest, dumbest etc. and all comments on the actual subject just stop.

Just seen this... And I think veya is bang out of order for this comment...!!!

I have total respect for females, and males... And a big part of respect is recognising and understanding peoples opinion and need for privacy and a comfortable environment when they are wanting to go to the toilet.

How many of the school kids actually said they wanted these mixed toilets?

I bet none were even asked... And i bet over 99% would have said no to it if they had been asked...

Where's the respect in that...???

I dont think anyone would insult another by calling them a Black..whatever.
Certainly if a white person did that it would be deemed racist imo.

Also... I noticed elsewhere on this thread the mention that there were still 'girls only' facilities... but boys now only have one choice available, the mixed toilets or nothing...

Is that right?

If so, where is respect there?

Or fairness or equality ?

That is correct, in the school there are unisex and girl only toilets.
I go to a few restaurants where there are also female only and unisex loos...….seems the lads have to put up or shut up.

I have to say given the choice I will always use the female only toilets...less chance of finding a wet seat.

Tommy, everyone on this forum, with any any sense, can see that.

Allow the sentence to stand. Just let it stand and take comfort in the fact that they are no more or less racist than they say you are.

I’ve said many, many, times, that hypocrisy is the biggest problem on this forum. It’s why no one seems to grow.

Just let the comment stand and let the author be proud.

Of course he is bang out of order, but is untouchable, as a mod

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA. People never fail to make me more sure of something by the day.

I sometimes wonder what I’m doing on this forum. I think I’m outgrowing it.

When you think about it Eddie, its not even funny and shows the extent of his stupidity

If any poster had of said “black dumb fuck” they would have been banned

I am against anyone being banned, but when people abuse their positions as moderators, then something is very wrong

I quite agree. I’m still pondering exactly how this will now work.

I wasn’t kidding when I said I felt like I’d outgrown this forum. It seems people will just say anything now, to be right to look good to look oh-so-liberal or rightwing.

You’re not always an angel, you know that? I’d be a liar and a hypocrite if I didn’t say that right now seeing as we are talking about people’s behaviour.

You are right

I do not deny my behaviour can be appalling Eddie, but at least I reocgnise that I can be poor

Shame to hear you think you are outgrowing this place and that should never be the case based on the stupidity of people

I know he did not mean it intentionally, but by such views, it does empower racism

Nobody posts from their heart. It’s all about ego.
And it’s tiring.

You know what the definition of insanity is?
Doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results.

That’s why I’m frustrated. That’s why I’m outgrowing this place.

And really, the forum is going to shit. Veya’s comment really did something to me.
And really, it’s symbolic of everything that’s wrong on here.

Make some changes then, lots of us are open to new ideas.

The problem with any forum is if new members dont join it stagnates....we can only discuss the same topics and give our own views so many times before it feels like groundhog day....bring in some new ideas..

Do you know Syl that once upon a time I may have had the energy or the belief that doing something new would change things.

But I don’t have that belief anymore and I’m starting to realise that certain posters are just egotistically stupid.

Albert Einstein and he was right. You are also right, that people are continually making the same mistakes over and over again. Sadly some think the way to combat racism, is to be racist. Its identity politics idiocy. That is simple absurd and shows what is wrong with how people are driven by hate and prejudice. To the point that people that are adherants of identity polictis are bringing fourth the same bigoted prejudiced views from before

So I understand why you are frustrated and I am going to do something here to help

I am no longer going to insult people and show that people can move past being spiteful and vindictive

If I can do this, when most of the time its my passions that run away with me. Then nobody can then use me as an exucse to then be bigoted and prejudiced

You have my permission and the rest of the Mod team to immediatelly basement me if I fall foul of this by calling a poster a mean name. I want them to do this, though, I will prove they never have to. I will still swear of course, but if I can show I can debate without prejudice and mean words. Then nobody has any justification to do so themselves

I do not want to see you leave and if it means me correcting myself and doing what is needed to ensure this forum becomes a good place for people to intereact. Then I am willing to do that.

I hope to then lead by example, that then others may follower
