First topic message reminder :

No news items, or links. Let’s pretend we have no access to information, only our memories or experiences.
Our OPINIONS.

If this doesn’t float your boat then don’t join in.

When the debate seems about done we can choose another topic.

Two rules:

1. No links or references to articles.

2. No going off topic - make another thread.

Remember these are opinions only so really, there’s not always a right or wrong!

Oh, and this thread (nor the rules] is not up for debate. Razz

You haven't addressed my points.
So I'm not wasting my time.

ha ha ha

Oh grow up, seriously, I did look at the test and its bollocks mate.

I do not need to address them, not one had any view of any faults you may have.

Its based on a prceived view you have of yourself, which I often have told to me daily by posters negativelly all the time

I do not mind, because i am not insecure about myself and people can say of me what they like

You engineered your own answers to fit the discriptions

I am sure you have some of these traits to a certain degree, but without any real thought, you have associated yourself to having them

A real honest person would speak about the faults and failings they have and try to learn from them. As the best people learn from their mistakes

This does none of that

Hence it plays on the insecurities of people, hence the Barnum effect

I mean you are getting upset, over me not addressing views that you think about yourself

Seriously you need to get a grip, as I am simple pointing out how poor these tests are and even worse you believe in this one

I suggest you open the sun newspaper and read your stars today   Laughing

I think you are fab Eilzel, but seriosuly get a grip here mate

Then you obviously didn't read my post, if that's what you are saying.

1) Being introverted in itself is rarely looked upon as a positive and is usually associated with social awkwardness. Not always, but often. I hate big social occasions tbh. I do not see this as a positive at all and would love the confidence some seem to have in such situations.

2) Disagreeing on something is not closed-mindedness didge, it's just disagreement. You do nothing to negate any of what I said there.

3) It wasn't 'team work' in the thread didge, 4 people just disagreed with you at the same time is all. And being good alone or working as a team are both good things. Not being good at either is not ideal. But as I said, this test is NOT saying good or bad things about people - just 'things'.

4) Everyone is spontaneous to 'some degree'. I agree. Just a very, very small one in my case. Again, doesn't disprove anything.

Also, once more, the test gives literally 10 articles on your personality. It is very in depth.

I absolutely agree on everything you're saying with regards to every other test like this I've ever done.

I don't even say this one is gospel. Just very accurate, and I normally dismiss these things out of hand.

And no I didn't research the bloody thing - because it's just a bit of FUN didge Laughing

I looked at the questions on that test and doubt anyone answered then with reason but emotionally and dishonestly

The test would be far better by people answering for others to then see how if the answers came out the same

And nobody dont dare say  "its fun", as these tests are not fun, as they fuel insecurities of people and make themselves feell they are something they are not. Psychologically they are poor indicators of the true abilities and emotions of people

Seriously

Does anyone here need to take such a test to know who they are or to big themselves up?

That is very much emotional Eilzel and not using reason is it?

I would like to think that the world needs everyone to have positive emotions, as without this, the world would be in dispair

Love is the greatest emotion and is what drives many people

So lets put this to the test for you

Are your left wing views steered by more emotions than reasons?

I am really going to put you to the test here, because the reality is they will be by 90% emotional

Wanna try?

1) Your doubt is irrelevant. No one has any reason to lie on a test like this. Maybe some do, I don't care.

2) It is fun. I find it fun. There, I dared. Don't be silly. I find it fun. If anyone else doesn't, I don't care, they can not do them.

3) I don't see how these tests allow people to really big themselves up. This one doesn't say anything positive or negative, though gives strengths and weaknesses to whatever outcome you get. For me it doesn't matter. It has zero impact on what I do and how I live my life. I just find it interesting when such tests are so accurate (and for the record, most are miles off, or too scatter shot, like Astrology: sure half of what it says rings true, but half is also utter BS). The MB test is surprisingly accurate, I find that interesting.

4) I didn't say feelings are always irrelevant, I said if the world was governed more by feelings than thinking then we'd have problems.

5) My LW views are very much a product of both feelings and reason. However, to give a solid example of where feelings could fuck the world, if I based my entire view on feelings alone I'd probably be a communist. But because I am able to think beyond that I know that communism will never really work. So I'm a Liberal Socialist.

Didge's comments on this thread are simply more evidence of his oft self-proclaimed "intellectual superiority" over everybody else around here.

Personally, I'm more inclined to give that claim about as much credence as Tommy's definition of 'common sense', or Stormee's notions of 'white (male) supremacy'..

Do I?

Where did i claim intellectual superiority?

Or is this the fact that you feel inferior?

That is of your own making, not mine because all you ever do wolf, is look to demean posters, because you do have an inferiority complex

Now if you want me to psychoanalyze you buddy, I will do this for free for you?

Laughing

I think most people would agree you are nothing more than a slimey insulting big mouth.

But hey, do you want to put that to the test?

Now can you show me where i claim intellectual superiority here?

No

Or do you think this test has nothing to do with the barnum effect?

Many people are gullible, including Eilzel, as this tests are designed specifically to make people think something fits for them

I proved that, because in essence, people are unable to not have a subconcious bias to themselves

A really true test would be to show the worst faults in people

Yet I doubt anyone would take such a test, as they would be too afraid

I would have no issue doing so

These tests are there in the main and are based on group thinking, not individuals. They are there to pick people up. Tht is a good thing, but it has about as much validity as palm reading and astrology

And i will say this again

Why do people need validation to things they already know about themselves and the positives attributes that they have?

One word for that

Insecurities

When you look at this psychologically its is in no way fun, because those very same people are then unable to look at themselves critically

They need a website to then make themselves feel good about themselves. Hence its never a true reflection of themselves

Hence the problem of social media

I can point out 3 things about Eilzel and why I look up to him, which does not take a webpage or psychobabble to do and in no way offered up a true reflection of his character.

1) He is essentially kind and more tolerant than many people i KNOW. He may not claim to be when in reality he is

2) He is most definately loving and has overcome many hurdles to be able to embrace the love he now has. That takes guts and the will to overcome anything thrown in front of him. He has strong determination

3) He will never bow down to hate. He may feel at times to want to hate, but the better side of him is always in control

Hence the emotions that Eilzel has are finely balanced with reason

I did not need some dumb test, using the Barnum effect, to understand this about him

Its why I have alwaqys respected him and know he will not take offense when I take the piss out of him

People see things that are positives as negatives. I show how in fact they are most of the time positives

People should be inspired by who they are, not what some webpage collectivelly make a claim on people.

Because such sites, never turely understand the individual

Yes, insecurities maybe but mostly because they can then make themselves a little box and label it “INP BOLLOCKS” and sit within it safely, using it for the rest of their lives as an excuse not to ever have to grow or bother to learn anything more about themselves.

“Oh I can’t do that because I’m a EFPA WANKER...a test told me so”

Anyhoo....
A test told me I was just like bugs bunny. So I am going to eat more carrots.

So you are basically in agreement with me Eddie?

I will disagree on one thing, as Eilzel has certainly grown with the time I have spent on forums, as have you. That you have both learnt from others

I agree with you, a test is not going to truely test a person, but make them feel and agree with the conclusions. Just as palm reasing and astrology does

Not long ago you were arguing with me that none of us could possibly know anything about our fellow posters just by posting alongside them....yet you seem to be able to analyse Eilzel very well. Rolling Eyes

Where did i say i know everything about Eilzel?

So where is the contradiction?

I said all i need to know about him, as a person

And by the way Syl, I am cursed

I have an unbelievable habbit of understanding people, espcially women

As when I tell them things about themselves, they generally  cry and hug me.

Hence its a curse, as i am only trying to be positive for them

It helps them though

So I do understand people very well, but would pefer to first of all to understand myself

What you have done is prove I was right when you continuously contradicted me and told me (and Eddie I think) that we were wrong.
I maintained that when we post alongside someone we get to know what sort of person they are, simply by the way they post and relate to others...you said that was rubbish.

Glad you have come to your senses. Wink

How am I wrong on that?

Seriously

I understand people well, because i studied psychology

I still stand by my view on this

I think you feel that you know people well, and you certainly care more than most people here, but I do not think you do know them

That is my view

You can disagree with m,e all you like Syl, but as much as much as you and Eddie are caring, I do not think you truely understand people on face values

Self importance as in believing you have an insight that no one else on this forum has.

Seriously

I would say the reality is that many posters, if they actually listen to others, get a feel, especially over time of what another persons real character is.
I am not special, but I know whether a person is generally  happy or sad with life, quick tempered, slow to annoy, kind, selfish....lots of clues in  a persons posting style and the way they relate to others.

If I know this so do others.....you are no more intuitive than many others on here Didge.

Hilarious

Most people have not got a clue

Hence why i actually put this to the test with this thread and only Eilzel has took up that challenge

I am not bothered wthere you believe me or not, but the reality is most of you have not got a clue

For some reason i do have this ability and not concerned whether you believe me or not

The countless friends i have, do know, and they are what is significant, not you in believeing this

Not trying to convince you either

The reality is this, not one here has any intutition of others. They may like to think they have, but they dont

I can easily prove it in my case. Just ask my friends and family, happy to put you in contact with them for you, but I doubt you would want to.

Simple

Can you think what my nickname at work is?

And this is based on the intutition I have?

Yes, insecurities maybe but mostly because they can then make themselves a little box and label it “INP BOLLOCKS” and sit within it safely, using it for the rest of their lives as an excuse not to ever have to grow or bother to learn anything more about themselves.

I know I was extrovert something.
