School staff inadvertently record foul-mouthed chat about autistic pupil on his mother's VOICEMAIL... after believing they had hung up

Post by Didge on Tue Jul 17, 2018 4:46 pm

First topic message reminder :

A horrified mother heard foul-mouthed school staff insult her autistic son in a voicemail message after they thought she’d hung up. Leighanne Bromley, 29, from Coventry, said her jaw hit the ground when she first heard the message last week. Now the disgusted mother has called for the staff heard abusing her son to be suspended from RNIB Three Spires Academy in Coventry.

The special school, which has more than 50 per cent autistic pupils, posted an apology to Leighanne on its website on Friday.

A spokesman for the school said headteacher Rob Jones had been in direct contact with the mother since last week over the accident.

Leighanne said her son Harley, 10, was off school with acold.

A member of staff left a friendly voicemail last Tuesday enquiring after Harley's health and when he would be returning to school.

However believing she had hung up, the she goes on to say: 'And make sure he's off all f****** week.'

A man in the background adds: 'What about two weeks?'

What follows was an exchange between the woman and male member of staff joking about Harley being kept out of school until the end of term.

The only one with present and dangerous hatred in their soul is you. Goodnight.

Sorry for that to the rest of you, had to get that off my chest.

Agree with what Gelico said.

Really, is that why I did not look for the bad in the mother and only good. Wanting to right for her son

Yet you and others look for the bad? Claims of attention seeking, she is not having th best interest of her son, her looks etc.

All negative view points at the mother, when she and her son were wronged

Like I say, you have not a clue Vintage claiming I am the one of hate. As I do not hate anyone and countless times offer support and advice to people when they need it.

So I do not have hatred at all and castigating people for their hate, its taking them to task

So maybe you and others should actually question, why your automatic position is to be negative towards the mother, when she and her son were wronged here? And on countless other perceived or real injustices go public. That the automatic position is one negative towards those percieved to be or actually wronged?

And that is what is wrong with society, in how this happens time and time again, the negative view people hold constantly towards others

So all you did was show you were hypocritical to things you charged me withand did everything the same yourself

You harrass and harry people who don't agree with you and who exactly says you are always right.
You have to understand people don't all come here for a heated debate, making points and parrying others like some verbal fencing match, many just want to chat and air their views and the dictatorial comebacks are very off putting, I was considering whether to not bother anymore because of that and the fact that you ripped into me on at least three occassions lately which were totally uncalled for and a few others have been targetted as well but I didn't see why I should be chased away, even though I'm not a great contributor, its not the Oxford debating society everyone's entitled to their opinion, if you want heated 'debate' do so with others that are up for it. Try not to be so rude and contemptuous all the time, you may be passionate in your beliefs but cool down a bit.

I can do as i please, if people do not offer up evidence for their claims.

Its not a case of whether I am right or wrong, but for people to back up their assumptions. To claim I think I am always right, is a lie, when more than anyone else I have admitted to being wrong. Even more I have changed views, based on listening to others from here. So again that is a poor asumption from you

Going off peoples looks, is not evidence, its a poor perceived view.

For example the mother could be many things but is being judge on her looks alone. The views where people disagree on whether its right or wrong to go to the public are valid. The moment someone here got personal about her on her looks. It ceases to be a valid point and is quite vindictive. Claims on attention also have no evidnece. They are based again on a view held that people going to the press are attention seekers.

It seems those thinking this clearly have no clue on history, because throughout history. People have gone public with percieved or real problems. How on earth do you think women ended up getting the vote? Through gaining attention to the problem. It was not about personal attention for them, but women's rights

I mean the funniest thing about your reply is you claiming to say I tell and harras people what to do and in the same breath you are trying to tell me what to do.

Hypocrisy much?

So you think debates should be a certain way. I think we are all grown up and can take heated debates. If people cannot, then they should question why they are here. We are going to disagree on that, but again, you are trying to tell me what you think debates should be here, just as I have done

The point is, not all opinions are valid

Take when people have been basemented, like with the recent slurs to Syl, Horatio and magic by Wolf.

Are you going to tell me his views were valid in regards to them?

I dont think so

Look if people want to be snowflakes, then the forum is not for them and I am not going to stop ripping into people. Where again i did here with syl, when I was not even abusive. I simple took her to task for what I saw, was her being very hateful. She judged this person and made poor accusations. Not based on any facts, but on appearance. We would never stand for that, if the other person was Black, Asian etc and they were judged on the colour of their skin. So why should someone or anyone stand for such hate expressed towards another person. This being a Mother of an autistic child for her apperance?

If people want to jump into the frying pan with such views, then dont expect they wont get burnt

It's not for you to say that this forum is not for people who don't want to be abused by you. It's for anyone - you don't get to say who should be here.

Like I say, dont jump in the frying pan and not expect to get burnt

I never said who should be here and welcome anyone

So again you are misleading people over me saying that if people cannot take things, then they should not be here, if they cannot handle this. That is simple advice, as you are trying to do with me

So I can say as I please

You dont like that, then that is your tough luck

That is pretty much what you said. You are not entitled to say how people should debate, and you have no justification for being rude to them if they disagree with you. It just makes you look bossy, opinionated, and intolerant. That puts you in the wrong, not them.

No its not, no matter how badly you try to claim and I just showed you were wrong.

lol, so Vintage was not entittled to tell me how to debate, as she did earlier then?

I was not rude to anyone on this thread, they were to me if you look back

Show me where I was?

I castigated Syl for poorly accusing the mother, as basically a prostitute on her looks. Her looks had zero to do with anything here. It was people looking negativelly at her based on her looks, to then be vindictive to her

I am not going to stand for that, when they are superficially judging her

So was Syl in the right for her superficial views of the mother?

Yes or no?

You're rude to people in every thread. However, if you want to look like a bossy, opinionated, intolerant fool, that's entirely up to you.

Re: School staff inadvertently record foul-mouthed chat about autistic pupil on his mother's VOICEMAIL... after believing they had hung up

Post by Didge on Wed Jul 18, 2018 10:35 pm

A school staff member has been suspended after an autistic pupil's mum was accidentally left a foul-mouthed voicemail.

In a new statement issued today, Rob Jones, headteacher at RNIB Three Spires Academy, said: “We are sincerely sorry for the offence that has been caused by two staff members at RNIB Three Spires.

“We agree with Ms Bromley that their behaviour is unacceptable and it goes completely against the values of the school and of our sponsor, RNIB.

“RNIB Three Spires should be a safe and welcoming place for all students and we’re saddened that our school community has been let down by this behaviour.

“Our Chair of Governors has personally investigated the issue and has spoken to Ms Bromley directly to let her know that her complaint has been upheld.

“So that appropriate action can now be taken, RNIB has launched an internal investigation and will take whatever action is necessary to make sure this does not happen again.

“RNIB has a code of professional conduct that all staff members are expected to adhere to, and steps will be taken to make sure all staff are fully aware of the standards that are expected of them.”

Eliot Lyne, interim CEO at RNIB, added: “I’m really disappointed to hear about the incident at RNIB Three Spires and have spoken to Ms Bromley to give her a personal apology.

“There is no place for behaviour like this in any part of RNIB and we expect all our staff to act professionally and kindly at all times.

“I would like to assure Ms Bromley that we are taking this very seriously and will do everything we can to make sure the investigation is completed promptly.”

Post by Didge on Wed Jul 18, 2018 10:48 pm

So I will add before I go

The mother is clearly vindicated for claims to attentionr seeking for going public

No matter what others may think on going public, whether they would or not. That is you and not her under this situation. Where she clearly felt the school was trying to fob her off. People may disagree and arguments over what might happen if the case was you, are basically irrelevant to her situation. You have no idea about her son, how he deals with things and how no it seems he is very happy. Some kids revel in the limelight. In each case its always different

So people do not have a case to claim what she did was wrong, as to her, what she did was right and the board and school agree with her. People may still disagree, but that is irrelevant to the mother or the school

This was the best course of action and has got the results intended.

Its what has happened for centuries, when people's views and concerns are pushed aside. They get vocal and get many people on board, until people sit up and actually do something about this.

She had valid concerns here over her son at school, after this misconduct. Which was important to her, that clearly something like this never happens again. More importantly that she felt safe for her son when attending school. Clearly she had his best interest at heart and all the other pupils. That is why I apluad her, as things like this should not be brushed aside and should be taken seriously.

People should look at the story for what it is. Not perceived views on people going public or their looks. It had zero relevance as it does with every single case that happens. They should be taken on their evidence and merit. Not superficial views.

So I am sure some will still disagree, but that really does not matter. What matters, is that she sought some action, when before she was clearly not listened too seriously.

In your own situations, you can deal with them as you see fit and am sure you will have many support you in your actions and have me support you on your choices. No doubt some will also give you a hard time, but I would support you, as it would be your choice and decision.

So whether you think its being harsh to the school member, well I hope they learn their lesson and get a written warning. Things like this need publicity, to ensure other schools do not do the same

Night
