State Lawmakers Introduce New Faith Adoption Legislation

Post by Didge on Wed Feb 07, 2018 8:38 am

State lawmakers approved an adoption bill to overhaul the state’s system.

But now they will consider another bill, Senate Bill 375, that would let adoption agencies that receive state funding deny services based on “sincerely held religious beliefs.”

Last year, Georgia’s adoption bill failed in the Senate due to a provision that let adoption agencies that got state money refuse service based on their mission statements.

This year, state senators narrowed that provision and put it in its own bill. It allows for denial of service based only on “sincerely held religious beliefs” that don’t conflict with any civil rights laws.
Jeff Graham, with the advocacy group Georgia Equality, said the new bill still opens the door for unfair treatment.

“It’s not just members of the LGBT community that could be discriminated against,” Graham said. “You could have members of a minority faith being discriminated against. Or a single mother, just because she’s unwed.”

Republican State Sen. William Ligon, the bill’s sponsor, said people who run adoption agencies shouldn’t have to compromise their religious beliefs just to do business.

That fascist politician pushing this bill has got his "principles" arse-round...

Those organisations who place extreme and inequitable political or religious dogma at the centre of their "mission statements" shouldn't be operating adoption agencies, nor places like schools or orphanages..

Not where the welfare and well-being of the children themselves should be the prime concern.

YES they Should,
Businesses should be Void of religious afflictions.
If an Individual is unsuitable to operate a business due to an incapacity to separate their personal opinions from the Business's operation than they SHOUD NOT BE RUNNING A BUSINESS.

No 'Sharia' anything, as far as I'm concerned...

Sharia law and principles, and their Sharia "councils" and "courts" have no legal standing here in Australia (nor under any international laws, in general..).

To get around that down here, those Islamic communities who may want to impose Sharia principles on themselves and in their daily lives (still only a very small minority of Islamic people here in Oz), are resorting to using legal contracts between 'consenting' parties, and falling back onto common Contract Law to settle any disputes.

Well, Sharia banking is legal here. That doesn't mean that they wont allow non Muslim customers, only that they will pick and choose what they make loans for. You won't be getting a loan for a liquor store from one of them, and frankly I don't give a fat rat's ass. But I'm not one for sticking my nose into the business transactions of others. MYOB is pretty much my policy.

Something that doesn't involve interaction with the Public

to be frank I don't give a shit, they can flip burgers at McDonalds since it is more suiting to their capacity.
If you can't operate a Business properly, Don't operate at all.
they have no innate right to operate a business at all and Definitely not a state funded one

a Business is NOT a person and should not be afforded human rights.
If an Individual cannot separate their private opinions from the Businesses operation the business should be closed.

And Yes we are all aware your policy is if it doesn't affect you just let them suffer Rolling Eyes Rolling Eyes Rolling Eyes Rolling Eyes

the Children not going to Suitable homes because of a religitard that can't separate their personal opinion from the Businesses Activities.

The Suitable Parents Not able to Adopt because of a religitard that can't separate their personal opinion from the Businesses Activities.

So Fuck the Religitard's personal opinion, operate fairly without discrimination or Don't operate at all. Take the state funding and give it to someone that CAN operate fairly without discrimination.
