Terrorist attack in The Village in New York

Post by Original Quill on Tue Oct 31, 2017 9:42 pm

A 29-year old man drove a truck rented from Home Depot, onto a bicycle path from Houston St. to Chambers St.  He ran over bicyclists and pedestrians. There are 8 dead, and 15 injured.

The terrorist was stopped by a collision with a school bus.  Several students injured, but not life-threatening.  The malefactor was injured in the collision, and is in the hospital.

Once again a vehicle is used as a weapon to deliberately kill and injure innocents.

"At least eight people have been killed and around a dozen more seriously injured in a "particularly cowardly act of terrorism" after a rented truck ploughed through people on a bike path in lower Manhattan.

Videos and pictures of the scene show bikes strewn along the path, which runs alongside the West Side highway in Manhattan, while footage showed people being loaded into ambulances on stretchers. The attack, which is being investigated by the Joint Terrorism Task Force, is one of the worst incidents of terrorism in the city since the 9/11 attacks.

New York Police Department (NYPD) says that one person is in custody, after he crashed the truck into a bus - injuring a number of people including children - and fled the vehicle carrying what authorities said was a paintball gun and a pellet gun. He was shot in the stomach and taken to a local hospital, he is expected to survive
.The suspect was identified by US media and others as 29-year-old-Sayfullo Saipov of Tampa - reportedly an Ukbek national who came to the US  in 2010 -  but the NYPD refused to confirm to The Independent the name of the suspect."

Not renting vehicles to men with big bushy beards might help. Not fair to those who are genuine, but there you go !

I think we will see more of these attacks - its so easy for terrorists to use trucks - a way to stop them or at least lessen attacks is to make built up areas pedestrian only .

We went to York Christmas fair last year and the market was pedestrian only which made it feel safer .

A man suspected of killing eight people and injuring at least ten more in a truck attack left a note pledging allegiance to Islamic State, US media has reported.

Why Don't Media Treat Islamist Terror Attacks Like White Supremacist Terror Attacks?

On Tuesday, an apparent Islamist terrorist rammed a truck into dozens of Americans on a bike path in New York City, killing eight and injuring over ten. He popped out of the truck shouting “Allahu Akhbar” before being captured by police.

Imagine that a white supremacist had driven a truck onto a bike path filled with minority innocents, killing eight of them. Imagine that the white supremacist had emerged from his truck carrying aloft a Confederate flag.

Imagine that the media had leapt to the defense of those flying the Confederate flag, explaining that only a tiny minority of those who did so had engaged in any sort of racist violence. Imagine that all of America’s major political leaders said the same, and told those who connected the terrorism with the Confederate flag that their viewpoints represented bigotry. Imagine, too, that CNN ran a chyron reading “WITNESSES: SUSPECT WAS CARRYING SOUTHERN VERSION OF AMERICAN FLAG,” and then hosted panels assuring audiences that the Confederate flag was simply a symbol of Southern pride.

Hard to imagine, isn’t it?

Yet that was precisely the chain of events that took place after yet another Islamist terror attack on American soil. Leftist media darling and terrorist-sympathizer Linda Sarsour tweeted, “Every believing Muslim says Allahu Akbar every day during prayers. We cannot criminalize ‘God is great.’ Prosecute the criminal not a faith.” The media did its typical rush to prevent cruel Americans from engaging in “Islamophobia,” expressing that radical Islamic terrorism had no connection to actual Islam. Most of America’s political leaders quickly agreed. CNN ran a chyron reading, “WITNESSES: SUSPECT WAS YELLING ‘GOD IS GREAT’ IN ARABIC.”

Precisely the reverse takes place after white supremacist terror attacks, of course. When white supremacist Dylann Storm Roof committed a massive terror attack on a black church, the media quickly uncovered photos of him with a Confederate flag, and led a month-long discussion on whether the Confederate flag ought to be banned from public places. When a white supremacist in Charlottesville murdered an innocent woman, the media held a month-long discussion on whether Confederate statues ought to be removed. This week, a Latino interest group ran an ad attempting to connect a Republican gubernatorial candidate with a white supremacist march he had openly condemned, and created an ad showing a Confederate flag-flying white supremacist with that candidate’s bumper sticker attempting to run down minority children.

Now, we can have solid discussions about Confederate monuments and the Confederate flag. Those discussions are worthwhile. But why is that we leap to discuss those issues when a white supremacist terrorist kills innocents, but we leap to defend Islam when an Islamist kills innocents? Why the difference? Isn’t radical Islam just as horrifying as white supremacism? And isn’t white supremacism just as statistically non-representative of Confederate flag-owners throughout the South as radical Islam is of observant Muslims across the country?

supremacism.

That’s nonsense. If we’re going to start attributing terrorist ideologies to broader movements, we’re going to have to abide by that rule across the board; if, by contrast, we’re going to distinguish terrorist ideologies from other ideologies, let’s do that across the board. But you can’t connect white supremacism to Ed Gillespie and Confederate flag-owners while adamantly disconnecting Islamism from Islam. That’s intellectually dishonest. Actually, it's disparaging of non-Muslim Americans more generally, unless there’s a deeper connection between white supremacism and Confederate flag-owning or conservative voting than there is between Islamism and Islam. Which there isn’t.

        scratch        Idea

The Aussie media doesn't differentiate between the different sources of terrorism...

They have given a pretty good coverage of the NY attack down here today;
I can also see a good coverage on the internet from where I'm sitting..

Considering how SmellyRacistLiarBumster obviously takes most of his "news" feed from his fave alt.right/ fake news/ "alternative facts" blogsites  --  as he so kindly shows us in his idiotic rant above  --  I really do have to wonder how he could possibly know what the mainstream capitalist-controlled media is doing ???

Then again, the little muppet is probably making these claims up on the spot --  same as he does with most of his other bullshit threads on here..

I think we must apply some common sense now

If it looks liken a Muslim, walks like a Muslim and shouts "ALLAHU AKBAR" as it kills innocent people like a Muslim

It's probably a Muslim

But some people are ok with Islamic terrorism it seems

It is a pity the cop only shot him in the gut. A double tap to the head would have been cheaper, and better justice for those killed or maimed.

NYC Foreign Terror Suspect Entered U.S. With ‘Diversity Visa’ Trump Wants To End

29-year-old Sayfullo Habibullaevic Saipov, the immigrant from Uzbekistan who murdered at least eight people in Manhattan on Tuesday, arrived in the United States seven years ago under what is called the Diversity Visa Program, a program that President Trump and the GOP have been trying to eliminate.

As The Washington Post explained:

Each year, the Diversity Visa Lottery, as it is officially known, provides up to 50,000 randomly selected foreigners — fewer than 1 percent of those who enter the drawing — with permanent residency in the United States.

In February 2017, Sen. Tom Cotton (R-AR) and Sen. David Perdue (R-GA) introduced the RAISE Act, which stated:

To amend the Immigration and Nationality Act to establish a skills-based immigration points system, to focus family-sponsored immigration on spouses and minor children, to eliminate the Diversity Visa Program, to set a limit on the number of refugees admitted annually to the United States, and for other purposes.

On August 2, 2017, the White House announced President Trump would back the RAISE Act. The White House statement read, “The RAISE Act eliminates the outdated Diversity Visa lottery system, which serves questionable economic and humanitarian interests.”

On October 8, President Trump sent a letter to “House and Senate leaders & Immigration Principles and Policies” in which he outlined his plans for immigration. In section 3, titled “Merit-Based Immigration System,” Trump wrote, “Eliminate the 'Diversity Visa Lottery.'”

Russ, we've got some smart guys, too. We can stand back and see the writing on the wall. What does Trump do every time the heat gets turned up? He creates a distraction. The Kappernick affair, with the NFL. Puerto Rico. The argument with the widow of the dead soldier in Niger. He's becoming an expert at manipulating the dupes, because he sure ain't good at any thing else.

The Special Prosecutor has just handed down three indictments, one already a conviction. Trump is in league with the Russians, and he has been open and obvious about that. Every time he needs a distraction, he sets something up. This time, the Ruskis come through for him. A Ruski, posing as an Islamic extremist, runs down some people in Manhattan's lower west side...on Holloween, no less! Maximum exposure...maximum attention.

And what is the American dupe public doing? Looking at the tragedy in New York, and not at the Court Clerk's office at the District Court. Writing on the wall, Russ... We're just as good as you guys.

Ultra-conservative, authoritarian and intolerant radical-Islamist idealogies are incompatible with all relatively normal and sane ways of life...

Same as all other authoritarian and intolerant, radical or reactionary, dogmatic idealogies..

Occam's razor??  In the age of Donald 'pussy-grabber' Trump and Russian political intermeddling?  I think simplest hypotheses and fewest assumptions goes out the window.

Would Occam have ever predicted that the Russians would tamper with the American elections, let alone devise a means to do it via the Internet?  Russians are chess players, who work through complex stratagems.  They design complex organizations and arrangements.  They write complex novels and convoluted poems.  Crissakes, Russians are also drunks...ever see a drunk opt for simplicity??  Friar William would have revised his whole theory had he ever met a Russian.

We are talking here about a gambit that meets public expectations--indeed, the dupes are expecting a Muslim malefactor in every act of terror--and the Russians have a Muslim region made to order.  This is the perfect situation where necessity meets opportunity, and you're looking for simplicity...from drunk Russians?

Clearly, the Ruskis have been fookin' with Trump's head.  They released the emails that revealed Don Jr's Trump Tower meeting on June 7th, and now they want to throw a lifeline to him.  DAMMIT!  They want the fookin' sanctions lifted.

Russia is run by a gang of mobsters, who cherish individual wealth...no longer national interests.  It isn't Iran or N. Korea, where the populous will hunker down and endure in a display of national unity; these are mafia-types who enjoy and covet nice things.  The best that money can buy is found in the west, yet they can't even go there because they are blacklisted and their assets in western banks are frozen.  Get it?

Now they have placed this puppet in the White House.  Only they've learned that the US isn't run by a strongman.  They've gotta play games with the US Congress and the public.  They've gotta play appearances.  It's a show: stage a Muslim-sounding Ruski from the former KGB or GRU in a fake setting, and distract the dupes from the fact that the Special Prosecutor just handed their team three indictments and one conviction.

Occam's razor indeed.  This ain't the 14th century and the Internet wasn't even invented then.

How many times have I told you, denial is a river in east Africa!

Exactly three days ago, when the indictments were being handed down, you were shitting in your pants.  The Ruskis create this interlude, and you gain your second wind.  Clever little buggers, ain't they?

The simple facts are: 1) the Russians hacked into and fixed the American elections; 2) experts have said that they couldn't have done it alone; 3) Trump lauds, and protects the Russians at every turn; 4) Papadopoulos was a member of the Trump Security Adviser team, who was instructed to get Russian aid in the election; Papadopoulos did so; Papadopoulos was rewarded; the Russians contacted Don Jr. and offered the stolen emails; a meeting took place on June 7th, including Manafort and Kushner; in August the data were publshed.

Trump keeps denying these established and conclusive facts.  But you can't deny indictments, can you?  More to come...
cheers

Russ, do you know what you are saying?  The so-called "bullet" went right through the (not so) loyal soldiers and hit Trump right in the pussy-grabber paw.  Not only Trump, but the minions who lie for him.

The meeting in March 2016 where the Russian collusion was not only admitted, but demonstrated--and filmed--was attended by Sen. Sessions, now Attorney General, Trump himself, and Sam Clovis.  Sam Clovis' appointment has already been withdrawn.  Sessions has been recalled to the Senate to face perjury charges.  All of Trump's denials about no collusion with the Russians have been blown away.  And the Special Counsel is just beginning.

CNN recaps'

CNN wrote:So, to recap:
1. "The [Russian] Professor" only expressed interest in Papadopoulos after it became clear that he would play a role in the Trump campaign as a foreign policy advisor.

2. Papadopoulos lied about the timing of his interactions with "The Professor." Those lies were aimed at suggesting the interactions came before Papadopoulos was an adviser to the Trump campaign. But, in fact, those interactions were because Papadopoulos worked for Trump, not in spite of them.

3. Papadopoulos' interactions with "The Professor" were driven by the promise of "dirt" on Clinton in the from of "thousands of emails" regarding Clinton.
4. Papadopoulos seems to have been cooperating with special counsel Robert Mueller's investigation since July.

Given all of that, it's much harder for Trump and his allies to dismiss Papadopoulos than Manafort. What's more, court documents make clear he was in contact with high-ranking campaign officials about his contacts with the Russians. A senior former campaign adviser told CNN's Gloria Borger that Papadopoulos was not a major player.

Your boy's going down, Russ.  Fix up a cot for 'im at Guantanamo.

cheers

But the Clintons broke no laws.  They just  got bad press.

Contrast Donald Trump. When you wade into the quagmire of foreign intrigue, the game changes drastically.  There are many, many laws--from tax laws to espionage laws--designed to curtail wrongdoing.

Donald Trump, after 5 bankruptcies, was no longer able to get loans from US banks; then he stumbled onto the Russian mobsters, awash with illicit funds.  They desperately needed money laundering.  Trump used them as a bank, and what happens when you get involved with the mob?  Right, you can't get out.

Now, like the proverbial tar baby, Trump is stuck.  Since all of Russia is a mob-run nation, it goes right to the top.  Putin runs Donald Trump, who putatively runs the US.  There's a lot one can say about the Clintons, but they didn't get in with the mob.  Trump has crossed a lot of laws, hence he--not Hillary or Bill--has a Special Prosecutor nipping at his heels.

Every time you hear Lock her up...simply ask: what for? She broke no laws.
