He Was 13 And Shot Her In The Face. Decades Later, She Frees Him From Prison

Post by Didge on Sat Oct 21, 2017 10:47 am

Ian Manuel was just 13 years old when he shot Debbie Baigrie. Although she survived, he received a life sentence.

About one year into his sentence, he called Debbie to apologize and to wish her a Merry Christmas. He also asked if he could write to her. Debbie eventually forgave Ian and the two began to build an unlikely friendship.

Many years later, Debbie, the woman he shot in the face, helped free him from prison.

Watch their wonderful story below.

Agreed Dibs. Its about the hardest thing to do, forgive someone, who could have easily killed her here.

To then try to help him.

Forgiveness is the best thing that a person can do because that emotion will cause all kinds of health problems - and yes its the hardest thing to do but the very best for everyone .

Her forgiveness and his sincere apology is a wonderful example .

Its a heartwarming story, she is an amazing woman, and he has matured into a good man.

But what sort of society sentences a 13 year old child to life imprisonment with no chance of parole?
Thats barbaric.

Indeed, great story! Just shows people can change.

As to sentencing for minors. I suppose it comes down to what age you consider a person to have 'criminal responsibility'. I personally think that that seriously ought to be 16 years old to be fully responsible. Although in the UK the age is 10...
