Conservative MPs in talks with Labour about signing UK up to free movement after Brexit

Post by Thorin on Thu Jul 13, 2017 11:36 pm

At least 15 Conservative MPs are in talks with Labour over keeping Britain signed up to free movement after Britain leaves the European Union, The Telegraph can disclose. The Tory MPs could back a plan to keep the UK in the European Economic Area after Brexit which would require the UK to accept unlimited numbers of migrants from within the EU.

The news came as the Government published legislation which will repatriate thousands of Brussels powers to London after Britain leaves the EU in March 2019. It allow for the creation of 10 quangos to replace the existing EU institutions and will ensure that the UK Supreme Court is no longer subject to EU case law.

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/2017/07/13/conservative-mps-talks-labour-signing-uk-free-movement-brexit/

Again I would love to see the UK remain in the EU, (as its in our best interest security wise) but the very fact the vast majority of the populace want to leave and have restriction on EU movement could now sway favour towards the Tories. If this is the plan by some to hinder such such brexit plans.

I like how there is no majority government at the moment, (as i hoped it would bring more collaboration from both left and right, where they would have to help each other or the better future of this country) but by some planning to hinder plans. Will only ensure that the Tories would receive mass support in another snap election. All those UKIP supporters who swung towards Labour, would swing over to the Tories on this. As many thought Labour supported controlled immigration.

Should be interesting times ahead.

You'd be surprised how the rule manipulators can turn a game. Remember, Trump lost the election by 3-million votes. and he's now president.

I agree, so why is it then you have never learnt from history?

It was conservatives who ended slavery.

It was conservatives in the republicans that backed civil rights.

Back in the 60's you would have been a Republican based on your views today with civil rights.

I mean what actually has the left done in history other than millions of deaths from Communism?

I mean if we are talking about Liberal values? Then why is it those regressive left no longer represent them?

The lesson you never learn from history is that the Democrats were the Far Right, before 1970 and that you fail to recognize that. They have since changed and are on a par with what I agree in the main.
The problem is never conservatism per say, its always been religious conservatism or group specific hatred. Where that be racial, sexism, homophobia etc.

The reason people now worry today, is that religious conservatism holds sway and that is what is happening again in the US. With the Christian right and also the Islamic right world wide. Except stupidly so, some of the left align themselves with the Islamic right. When they should stand behind those who are moderate. The left fail to look specifically and always cast a group as whole and the same. This is wrong. When both religious conservative groups are very problematic. You wrongly have no problem castigating people for their Republican or Tory beliefs, but shy away when they are Islamic groups. Its those on the extreme Islamic right as problematic as the extreme Christian right. As such extreme conservative groups as well as such extreme left wing groups, spawn fanatics in abundance. The regressive left want to go "la la la, I am not listening to problems" When it comes to religious conservatism that is non_christian. They look wrongly that any criticism, is some hoe racism, because its these same regressive. That some how view others as not as advanced, thus giving leeway to wrongs done. Which is about as racist an argument that the left could make. They only chastise white people for wrongs, as you and others see them as being responsible for their actions. You see others not responsible, as you clearly hold them as inferior. When they should be as accountable as anyone else no matter their ethnicity or religion.

Go figure

So its you not learning from history.

So the question to ask is whether you advocate universal human rights. Or do you only apply and chastise those classed white with this? The skin colour should never be a factor to excuse wrongs done. We always have to look at the root cause of beliefs as to why people do and commit wrongs.

So lets ask, why did many Japanese willingly give their lives?

Well its easy to see why.

So again do you stand for Universal human rights?

Its odd really. As to me all humans are biologically one human race. Yet is those on the left that continually argue, that those classed as white are only ever wrong in how they act, because they are classed as white.
Hence why we know some on the right are very much racist based on skin colour, but its always been the left that are racist only ever holding those classed as white accountable for all crimes for thousands of years. Arguing because they are white.

I mean how racist can some of the left be?

As all people can and have the ability to commit wrongs. Their skin colour does not make them do what they do, beliefs do.

So I ask again, why do the left argue onto people if white, based on skin colour and not the real reasons if they commit crimes? As people always commit wrongs based on belief. If its because of their skin colour as to why they do wrongs. Well that is as racist as it gets. As you are then creating a racial difference. Not on why or what they believe but a racist stand that skin colour makes people do wrongs.

I've noticed that people often take things too literally.
If someone says 'this takes us all back to square one now'', does it mean he/she is trying to discuss squares?
...and if someone says ''this subject isn't my cup of tea''  does it mean he/she is discussing hot beverages?

Dunno why people take metaphors and simple analogies so literally sometimes?
Maybe it's just cheap stalling tactics? No

That is a good observation, but it needs some adjustment. Unlike Britain leaving the EU, the west coast of the US is not leaving anything, but joining with the rest of the Trans-Pacific Partnership. The Pacific is the future. This is the trade partnership of the future. We are shedding the rust of the industrial belt, and the immorality of the American south, and looking west to new beginnings.

Here, the fifth largest economy in the world would join with the entire American Pacific coast to join in the pact of the most desirous trade partners in the history of the world. In the process we would be leaving behind a corrupt Republican party and a corrupt government, led by organized criminals in Moscow.

Quite the opposite of Brexit.

As Calexit is a separation from the rest of the United States.

California is not in the same position as the UK.  There is a difference between sunset and sunrise, didge.  It's the end of the day for Europe and the top of the morning for California.

Brexit is digging up old memories that will never be again.  It's nostalgia, not reality.  Y'all are back to being a lonely island, before the great navy and the world empire.

World progress moves from east to west, for some reason.  Daniel Boorstein, The Discoverers (1983).  California is on the brink of it's greatness.  It is the fifth largest economy in the world, and with Silicon Valley, holds the keys to the new industrial revolution.  San Francisco is the banking center of the Pacific.  Modern industry, automobiles, aircraft, ship building, tooling, all are moved to the western Pacific.
Indeed, shipping itself, sets its roots down in California.

You guys are abandoning Europe for nostalgia.  We are turning our backs on the wasteland of America for new beginnings.  You have memories; we have promise.  The old America is not a democracy, nor is it a vision of anything but failure.  It cannot rid itself of it's deep-felt hatred (fear??) of the black man, nor can it progress beyond it's love for stagnant capitalism.  It was rooted in divisiveness and still carries guns around to express it's inner failure.  It was never one nation, indivisible...  As the pussy-grabber excellence has shown, it lives for its hatred toward one another.  It has never been "one nation". California can make all the dreams come about.

It's not a double standard, but two different situations...as different as night and day.  It is an ideal time for California and the rest of the west to go it's own way.  Sorry we can't take the east and northeast with us--hell, I wish we could take Scotland along--they are lovely, but geography poses its limits.

You see?  You're not in the same league for this kind of discussion.

I've made my points.  What else is going on?

You are a hypocrite on the fact off separation.

Its a simple fact over this Quill

I am merely pointing out your complete double standards here.

You argue against the Uk leaving the United States of Europe, but back California to leave the United States of America.

Its rank hypocrisy

Britain is not in the same position as the California.  There is a difference between sunset and sunrise, didge.  It's the end of the day for the United States and the top of the morning for Britain.

You guys are abandoning the US for nostalgia.  We are turning our backs on the wasteland of Europe for new beginnings.  You have memories; we have promise.  The old Europe is not a democracy, nor is it a vision of anything but failure. Britain can make all the dreams come about.

It's not a double standard, but two different situations...as different as night and day.  It is an ideal time for Britain and the rest of the west to go it's own way.  Sorry we can't take the east and northeast with us--hell, I wish we could take Scotland along--they are lovely, but geography poses its limits.

Now do you see how you are a hypocrite when I use your own words against you changing them slightly?

Shush, wack-a-mole. Let's get back to the original subject.

Frankly, I'm inclined to side with tommy on this one. You've already voted your intentions.

But an Article 50 act is like any other legislation...it can completely undo the original intent by amendments. That's the art of the game.

Watch and see if the MP's don't negotiate a never mind!

We will have our democracy restored when we are no longer subservient to the EU...!
