Argos rewards worker who saved them a fortune...a £10 voucher.

Post by Syl on Wed Jun 21, 2017 4:14 am

And even that has to be spent in Argos.  Rolling Eyes

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-4624484/Argos-delivery-driver-rewarded-just-10-gift-card.htm

"A single father who came up with an idea to save Argos more than £1.5 million was rewarded with just a £10 gift voucher.
Mark Heslehurst suggested to bosses that Argos van drivers only use Sainsbury's petrol stations to refuel after the supermarket chain took over the catalogue business.
Staff were asked to suggest ideas to the chairman, Mike Coupe, after the takeover.
Mr Heslehurst, who is father to Edward, 14, received a gift voucher as a 'thank you' when the idea was picked up"

It gets worse ...

Argos knows full well that a tenner on its own gets you nowt worth having.

So people invariably end up buying something more expensive and using the tenner to contribute to the cost.

IE their thank you 'gift' comes with strings attached - twice over.

TIGHTWADS! No

Being taken for granted by your employers in this way is incredibly insulting.

I have an opposite little story, my first job when I left school was as an assistant in the local Co-op. I was waiting for my training to start at the GPO, so it was a sort of stopgap job, just to earn money for a few weeks, the bosses knew this and were happy to employ me till my 'proper job' started.

When it was time for me to leave they said I could pick anything off the shelves as a Goodbye present. I picked a bar of Pears soap, I loved the smell and it was luxury back then to have nice soap.
The manager thought I hadn't picked a nice enough present, so he gave me the biggest box of chocolates off the shelf as well as the soap.

I never forgot that kindness. Smile
