General Election 2017: Corbyn IS electable! Labour are now polling at a remarkable 39% in England!

Post by sassy on Sat May 20, 2017 9:42 pm

With bookmakers across the country expecting a Conservative landslide, few would have predicted the huge surge in support for Jeremy Corbyn’s Labour Party over the last two weeks.

Labour have increased their overall polling score by almost 10 points, and if they still retained support in their former Scottish heartlands, Labour would be polling almost neck and neck with the Conservatives.

Jeremy Corbyn’s party are polling significantly higher than the Tories in the north of England as well as London, but it is Labour’s overall share of the vote in England which is the most remarkable.

Many in the media have already written off Jeremy Corbyn’s chances of victory and assume the Tories will take a landslide win on June 8th, but with 39% of those polled in England saying they will back Jeremy Corbyn, an upset does indeed look possible if a further surge in support occurs combined with a drop in support for Theresa May’s party.

Furthermore, this latest Ipsos Mori poll was carried out between the 15th and 17th of May which was BEFORE the Conservatives released their manifesto – a manifesto which has been received extremely poorly by the public.

Sky News had the Labour Party Manifesto costed and said the Conservatives were lying when they said there was a discrepancy. Never thought I'd see the day.

Anyone who votes Conservative, who have refused to cost their manifesto, refused to rule out tax and NI rises (Labour has ruled them out for 95% of the population, that's the percentage that earn under £80,000 pa).

If you or your family need, or will ever need the NHS, you'd be a turkey voting for Christmas if you voted Conservative. Note, I say Conservative because May seems to think she is running for President and her speeches (lose deliver to people who can't get out and journalists who aren't allowed in) are full of ME ME ME ME ME.

What did you fail to grasp that people have no trust in people like you and Corbyn to deliver on your promises?

Why do you only argue off fear and not offer hope.

If Labour offered hope, then why do you argue based on the fear of the tories?

I see a lot of hope in the Labour manifesto.
What I also see is a horrorstory if you are
old
Look after elderly parents
have care needs
look after people with care needs.
Use the NHS.
Have kids at school.
Are on or below average wage.

As Sassy said, the Conservative philosophy  is shining loud and clear in their manifesto,   ME ME ME ME ME ME,  FUCK TNE PLEBS AND THE OLD.

And there you have it from labour supporters.

They continue to argue off fear and yet the majority of the nation do not share the above fearful views.

So why is that?

Because if you continually argue off fear and never offer a realistic hope to people. As Labour fail to do, as they simple are not believed at being able to deliver.

People want stability and they have that with May at the moment.

Labour are stretching out candy sticks, when there is a limited supply and the public knows this and they they know Labour cannot deliver on its policies. Plus the fact the maths just does not add up in their manifesto.

Trust is the key here and the majority clearly do not trust Corbyn's Labour and rightly so.

They are to far left and thankfully this country as an aversion to extreme ideologies.

There are some attractive policies there, but are they practical?

£10 per hour minimum wage? Great, but can companies afford it? Not only would they have to put up the minimum wage, but they'd also have to give large pay rises to anyone who is not on minimum wage too.

New homes? Great, but shouldn't all houses be affordable, and who gets the public ones? I kind of dislike the council house system because it causes people to compete with each other, and it creates inequality re rents.

Labour on Tuesday announced that water companies will be included in its plans to nationalise Britain’s infrastructure, but its manifesto contained no explanation of how it would be funded.

A draft copy of the manifesto, leaked to The Telegraph last week, contained plans to nationalise the railways, Royal Mail and National Grid, but while water companies have been added to that list, the money to pay for it has not increased.

The Conservatives described the manifesto as “a shambles”, joking that it seemed to have been costed by the shadow home secretary Diane Abbott, who famously got her figures muddled when announcing a policy on extra police officers earlier in the election campaign.

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/2017/05/16/analysis-do-labours-manifesto-pledges-add/

Our in-house remoaning, money tree-worshipping, metropolitan elitist, Darren Atwater has posted an article suggesting that Labour's manifesto maths adds up. Maybe Diane Abbott and Darren think so, but no-one else will be fooled.

The trouble with socialists is that eventually they run out of other people's money. So said Margaret Thatcher. She was right.

Labour promises to spend an extra £48 billion on various schemes and according to Paul Mason (ex BBC, ex Guardian, ex Communist Party of Great Britain), shadow chancellor "semtex" John McDonnell has identified £52 billion of savings/new taxes to pay for this. Mason, like Atwater, is either naive or stupid or both.

There is £6.5 billion going to be brought in each year by cutting down tax evasion. Really? All parties say they will do this, none ever deliver. There are £2.5 billion of "other savings". Hmmm.

Then there is the £19.4 billion that will be raised by hiking corporation tax to 26% just when countries across the globe, led by the USA but including even France are slashing corporation taxes. Mason/Atwater assume that in a world that is increasingly mobile, firms will just stay in the UK and cough up tax at 26% as opposed to, say, 15% in the USA. It is not going to happen. Firms will leave.

There is £1.6 billion going to be raised by levying VAT on private school fees. A 20% hike in what folks pay will cause some folks to leave the fee paying system and, probably, that will see some of the more marginal schools closing. Mason and Atwater assume all public school kids are Lord Snooty whose parents will just pay up automatically. It won't be like that.

There is £3.7 billion coming from increasing CGT and IHT. Mason and Atwater, of course, assume that all good citizens will line up and pay. Just like they did in the 1970s. Oh sorry for pointing that out. They did not then and they will not now. CGT and IHT are both double dip taxes, that is to say you are paying taxes on assets bought with taxed income so they are inherently unfair and every time a Trotskyite like Mason, Semtex John or Comrade Atwater hikes such taxes some folks find legit and illegit ways of ducking them.

There is £6.4 billion coming from a higher income tax on the top 5% of earners. Those would be the folks who are probably most able to "arrange their affairs" to avoid punitive taxes. Ditto the £1.3 billion levy on fat cat pay.

All of this package sends a signal that to work hard and get rich does not pay in Corbyn/Mason/Atwater's Britain. But the worst crime is that it will not stack up. The UK already has a budget deficit of £52 billion and unsustainable levels of National Debt. Both would clearly get worse under Labour.

Atwater thinks that the musings of commie Mason will change the way the country votes in three weeks. Dream on Comrade. For starters no-one outside your narrow circle of metroplitan elitists in Central London reads or listens to Mason anyway. And those fools are already backing the coalition of chaos.

That Labour will get thrashed is a given. The economic madness it proposes is a reason to celebrate that thrashing.

Who came up with that ghastly phrase "dementia tax"? They should be ashamed of themselves. Of course the people who it affects are next of kin and/or beneficiaries of Wills.

I think that means testing for the winter fuel allowance is a good thing. There are people getting it who are pretty well off, and they simply don't need it.

I think Dementia tax and Death tax sums up the Torys very well.
They were the party of the wjndow tax and bedroom tax.Crush the old , weak and poor.
So long as the rich and elite are ok.

Yes, but it doesn't just affect the relatives of those with dementia does it? It's just a horrible phrase, and it's not accurate.

The bedroom tax isn't a bad thing as such because it provides more equality between those who live in council property and those who rent privately, and who claim housing benefit of some kind. Do you think someone in privately rented property should be able to claim benefits for a three-bedroom house if they only need one bedroom?

Of course there are issues with some disabled people who need extra space.

Arrow

IT IS an undeniable and indisputable fact that under a multiple term "conservative" government total taxation on average workers and the poor will always increase, along with real world unemployment levels, and living costs in general;
While housing becomes more unaffordable and more are forced into homelessness ...

While at the same time, wages and average total household incomes are depressed, along with cuts to national health services, welfare services, and education spending..

Conservative governments are also the champions of reduced workplace safety, cuts to environmental protection, and halving the millionares' tax contributions.
People will vote conservative to their own costs, and to the detriment of society at large..

If Britain elects May, God help you if you live in the South East and get dementia or care for someone with it. Or have a parent with it.
They will pay for everything  APART from the last £100k. Which will buy you a conservatory or a garage.

The sour faced bitch is off her fucking trolley.

Thatcher  was the milk snatcher and her poll tax killed her career.
The Dementia  tax is May's personal own goal of epic proprtions.
Whilst May still talks exclusively  to local party members in scout huts, Corbyn is now filling huge football stadiums.
10,000 at Prenton Park today.

Huge cheer and chanting his name. When  May was mentioned, loud booing all round. The tide is turning. This will not be a landslide win for the nasty party.
Now who did name them that?
