The last time the French people got to vote in a referendum on the eu... they said NO!!!

So why are they still in the eu...!?

Le Pen is running on two major policies that the people want... you get out of the EU... and to act against the Islamists and illegal immigrants who are blighting the country and threatening national security!!!

Lets not pussyfoot around here Tommy. You support Le Pen because she is the nearest thing the French have to a Nazi party, she wants to build a wall around France and aspires to kick out all blacks and Muslims.

Re: French election

Post by Tommy Monk on Mon Apr 24, 2017 1:14 pm

Funny you should say that hand shandy... as le pens policies are quite left wing...!!!

lol!

Marine Le Pen has more of an appeal to left wing voters than pollsters would like to admit

In a contest against neoliberal Fillon and former investment banker Macron, traditional socialist voters may get behind the Front National leader

Economically, Le Pen promises to reverse globalisation and shield domestic industries from competition to benefit French workers. She promises increased welfare spending and a lower retirement age. Her ‘France First’ foreign policy is based on increasing defence spending, reducing immigration and restoring national identity. She is unequivocally anti-EU and opposes the single currency.

Le Pen’s economic policies are close to that of the centre left. In a contest against Fillon, who advocates cutting 500,000 civil-service jobs, reducing government services, labour market de-regulation, a higher retirement age and longer working hours, traditional socialist voters may support the Front National. In a contest against Macron, En Marche’s policy of tax cuts and labour-market reforms may assist Le Pen. Fillon and Macron’s support of globalisation, the EU, greater European economic integration and immigration increases Le Pen’s appeal to French nationalists from both the right and left of the political spectrum.

Third, Le Pen appeals to the idea of a grand French renewal and the rejection of traditional politics.

Fillon and Benoit Hamon, until recently considered unlikely to make the run-off given the collapse of support for the Socialists, are representatives of a decayed political system, riddled with corruption and repeated failure. Former conservative President Nicholas Sarkozy promises of “rupture” in 2007 disappointed. He is to stand trial over allegations of illegally financing his failed 2012 re-election bid. Current President Francois Hollande’s presidency failed in its attempts to revive the economy and is seen as weak on security and immigration.

Emmanuel Macron, a former civil servant and investment banker, is a product of elite French schools and the École Nationale d'Administration (ENA). He appeals to economically and socially mobile, young and internationalist French men and women but may struggle to overcome widespread French discomfort with financiers.

Le Pen is a party for Hill Shepherds
Trying to reverse reality like the french are powerful enough to do that .
It is just as dumb as brexit, Europeans wishing it was still the age of empire

I think we should just let Europe go back to being the brain dead barbarians they traditionally are, let them divide themselves and then we can conqueror them.

I don't think she's going to win, though, in spite of ISIS' best efforts. Macron has Obama's endorsement and the French love that guy Smile

Latest exit poll shows Macron 65.5%, LePen 34.5%. Looks like a resounding victory for a centrist politician, and shows the French are spurning the far right.
A event that ought to be happening wordwide.
Goodbye UKIP, BNP, EDL, National front. Nazi party.

I would have taken Nazism in France in exchange for the collapse of the EU.

Now we have the bastard love child of the Bilderberg, this is terrible news for Brexit. He will push for a very soft Brexit.

May will have no option to push for a hard, almost constipated Brexit.

Turkeys voting for christmas ...

Le Pen is very much on the left both economically and for protecting workers rights/jobs etc (ie against the raising of hours reqd to work in a week, and against raising the retirement age, also in favour of protecting public sector jobs that are currently facing a cut of about 500,000).

"Economically, Le Pen promises to reverse globalisation and shield domestic industries from competition to benefit French workers. She promises increased welfare spending and a lower retirement age. Her ‘France First’ foreign policy is based on increasing defence spending, reducing immigration and restoring national identity. She is unequivocally anti-EU and opposes the single currency.

Because 99.999% of Europe, including all politicians and the media say so. I would rather believe their judgement over a single, demented, conspiracy theorist on a small US lead forum, who believes everyone in the entire world is and was far left.

Nowadays it's not just a matter of RW vs LW, - too simplistic! - you need to factor in libertarianism vs authoritarianism too. We've all seen the graphs. Laughing

If the French National Front is so lefty and caring  nowadays,   then maybe it should change its name from one which has strong connotations of hate, fascism, nazism and bigotry.

Good luck to the marvellous French people. They have been through hell and back with multiple terrorists attacks and all the Charlie Hebdo saga. Very traumatic. But they pulled together and tried to heal themselves (rather than descend into the mutual hatemongering that the terrorists wanted).

I hope this new leader unites the deep divisions and looks after all the French people, including the NF voters, not just look after the people who voted for him. Allez les Francais. cheers

Tommy needs to get over it.

HE LOST AGAIN.

It does beg a couple of questions, though.

Who does Tommy actually perceive to be far right?

Who DOES Tommy believe? Not pundits. Not Univerisity professors of politics. Not politicians, not journalists. Not news media such as ABC, CNN, Fox, Reuters, SKY, BBC, ITN, Channel 4.

Everyone is wrong in his peculiar little bubble.

Or.

Everyone is right and Tommy is wrong.

Its plausable.

well as labours strategy has been to tell its supporters who were blairite to"fuck off and vote tory", a great success by the way, it is ironic that the usual suspects are cock a hoop about macron winning, when he is almost a blair clone. Perhaps I rather understand the meaning of irony far better than you, but I will admit you are a master of schoolboy abuse.

Of course using the well known leftie logic some would say macron was rejected because the dont knows and le pen vote was higher, but we all know that sort of thinking is utter nonsense. He won, and after the legal challenges we may see he won fairly as well.

Its plausable.
was he wrong, on the tories, brexit or trump?
just asking?
wilders and le penn were never going to win and that was clear by the margins in the polls.
Next come the french parliamentary elections, macron does not have a single mp at the moment, it will be interesting to see how that particular vote pans out.

by that logic you must be a far left communist, people who have been responsible for far more deaths around the world than the nazi's.

the vote for macron was less an endorsement of him and more people could not vote for le penn.
less voted for him than didn't after all.
something not seen widely reported was the mass march by the far left candidates supporters after the result. some said a million marched in that.

France it would appear is still deeply divided.

You are like a stuck revord.

Endlessly banging on and on and on and on and on about how EVERYONE apart from you is far left.

WE NO LONGER CARE ABOUT YOUR WARPED OUTLOOK ON LIFE
that is very informative
