Trump attacks women rigths

Post by veya_victaous on Tue Jan 24, 2017 2:26 am

US President Donald Trump has signed an order that could restrict women across the world’s access to safe abortion.

The new President reinstated the Mexico City policy as one of his first moves in the White House.

The policy enforces a ban on providing federal money to international groups that perform abortions or promote the option.

That means any US federally-funded aid group or other non-government organisation can’t assist with, recommend, give advice or provide any information when it comes to the emergency termination method.

Even without the ban in place, US-funded programs and health clinics don’t perform abortions — that’s already ruled out — but they can provide information about the option. Now with the ban, if they really want to do that, no matter who pays for it, the US government will cut them off.

The policy also prohibits taxpayer funding for groups that lobby to legalise abortion or promote it as a family planning method.
Mr Trump signed the executive order in the Oval Office, surrounded by men.

With his Vice President and staff looking on, the President sealed the deal on the “global gag rule” — there didn’t appear to be any women alongside the president when he did so.

The timing was also significant. Mr Trump signed the order the after the January 22 anniversary of the Supreme court’s Roe vs. Wade decision that legalised abortion in the United States. The date is traditionally when presidents take action on the police.

The policy has been instituted by Republican administrations and rescinded by Democratic ones since it was first introduced in 1984 by Ronald Reagan.

Most recently, former President Barack Obama ended the ban in 2009, and Mr Trump of course made it a priority to move against it.

The ban isn’t expected to decrease the number of abortions completed in developing countries, but health and activist groups say it is expected to restrict access to safe abortions and undermine the viability of groups that provide contraception and family planning options.

The World Health Organisation estimates 21.6 million women a year have unsafe abortions in developing countries, accounting for 13 per cent of all maternal deaths.

those that are saying give him a chance
Well? chance given he has proven to be pure evil and the marchers Where 100% right about him.

already PROVEN by himself, how many days in?

The decision follows marches staged around the world that saw millions of women gather to protest Mr Trump’s election.

One of the primary concerns of women who were marching was the threat to their reproductive rights that arrived with the new administration.

Literally this rule prevents Giving women Medical information And not just in the USA, a charity that gets some money from the government, say to prevent the spread of Aides in Africa cannot mention abortion now.

US-funded programs and health clinics don’t perform abortions — that’s already ruled out — but they can provide information about the option. Now with the ban, if they really want to do that, no matter who pays for it, the US government will cut them off.

Ironically, the ban will result in 2.2-million more abortions in America alone.  Planned Parenthood and other such groups spend a lot of their money exploring paths to alternatives to abortion, counseling women on maintaining the pregnancy.

That is precisely what is being banned.

IT'S not even like Trump has any special personal interest in the subject itself...

He is neither a pro-lifer, nor any kind of religious moralist..

He is simply an amoral political oppurtunist, delivering on a promise to those extremist Far Right Whinger evangelical and anti-abortion groups who gave so many cynical votes to him.

Smile

People in middling-sized "net exporting" countries with growing economies --  the likes of Australia, New Zealand, Canada, Argentina, South Korea, Indonesia, Malaysia, South Africa --  who are interested in how their country is performing and where it's heading, should take an interest in what is happening in the more important and more powerful members of their international community...

Like it or not, what happens in the USA, China, Japan, Germany, Brazil, India, Britain, France, Mexico, Italy does affect what is happening in other parts of the world..
"No man is an island",  nicko.

And anyone who simply ignores what happens in the rest of the world; or likes to believe that not believing in something means it won't happen; or believes that not believing in the 'interconnectivity' of all things will somehow avoid economic or environmental shocks or upsets --  may be in for a very rude wakeup call, simply because they ignored what was happening 'out there' in the wider world.

And as for those people in America developing an "isolationist" mindset,  and choosing to ignore what goes on outside their own backyard, or who are actually scared of all those threatening foreigners and coloured people and wimmin' folk getting the vote ?
Well, many of them went and voted for Trump, didn't they..          bom

In the "how could this happen" thread Ben Mentioned
"that the USA doesn't care about what happens in the UK" (which is true they don't care what happens down here either, they are the top dog)
Nicko takes that a personal insult since it implies that someone thinks Britain is not the BEST.

After making headlines last week for saying Donald Trump is a "baby Christian" who has accepted a relationship with Jesus, evangelical leader James Dobson has emphasized that even though the Republican nominee is still maturing in his Christian walk, that is no reason to not vote for him and give Hillary Clinton the power to "run the world."

grin angel

It's quite easy to be a "non believer" in the anti-Christian, anti-humanity and uncaring brand of "born again" faux "Christianity" that the Dumpster subscribes to...

A church where it's quite okay to cheat on your wife, make sleazy comments about your daughter, slag off women in general, brag about grabbing strange women "by the pussy", rip off unwitting investors, not pay tax, run scaremongering campaigns against innocent peoples, insult and abuse the disabled, exploit and under-pay workers..

All okay for one like the Don to be anti-democracy, anti-truth, anti-American.

Yep, that's all okay..
Just as long as you join an approved "born again" faux religious group...

Well that's the thing about the forgiveness of sins isn't it and its what the bible teaches - we all do things wrong say the wrong things and later regret - being a Christian doesn't mean perfection - everyone no matter who they are will never be perfect .

It does if he compliments laws that effct their rights to have them.
There is already a couple of US states that impose ridiculous laws based of religious gibberish that deny equal rights to women on abortion
You do realise as well how this effects women when funding is taken away?

In some circumstances i can understand abortions such as rape victims - but to use abortion as birth control is wrong all those aborted babies just because men and women can't act responsibly .

Is it based on what reasoning?
Again you are trying to decide what women can and cannot do with their own bodies or the fact the fetus has only reached a development that constitutes a baby by 20 weeks
If that fetus was born at 20 weeks, the chances are it would not survive

Where were they, fighting to get the laws changed in countless countries on FGM

Or have you not heard?

Why march just on the grooming gangs, are you relegating now the victims of child abuse only important based on the ethnicity of the abusers?

Should women and march about the issues of child sex abuse and FGM?

Of course they should.
Does that mean women cannot march for women's right when it comes to a leader who thinks its okay to grab a woman by her privates? A leader of the most powerful nation in the world?

I think politics is a little more relevant that a fictitious old man in the sky, more appropriate to tribal thinking of those back yonder in history who believe the earth was flat. Whether babies or seniors, we are real; god is not.

This thread started out discussing a real issue, and has turned into a discussion about Golden Books stories regarding Anglo-looking kids riding donkeys in some mythical desert place. I think the suggestion that we return to the subject is well taken.

And another one being organized, so its clear many women are marching against such wrongs done to women:

OUR REALITY IN THE UK TODAY:

One woman in four will experience domestic violence at some point in her life.

Domestic violence has more repeat victims than any other crime (on average there will have been 35 assaults before a victim calls the police).

Two women are murdered every week by their partner or ex-partner.

One incident of domestic violence is reported to the police every minute.

One woman in four will experience sexual assault as an adult.

Only 5% of rapes reported to the police result in the perpetrator being convicted in court.

Women are more worried about rape than any other crime.

250 cases of forced marriage are reported each year.

Up to 1,420 women per year are trafficked into the UK for sexual exploitation

One woman a month is murdered in the name of ‘so called’ honour.

Nearly 90% of local authorities do not have a rape crisis centre.

More than 20,000 girls could be at risk of Female Genital Mutilation (FGM) in the UK

I think VOD has a point.
I don't recall seeing crowds of women in Manchester joining other groups of women from around the world in solidarity when the crimes against underage girls and women she mentioned have been revealed.

Suspect

VoD claims to be a woman, and a Christian...

One would expect her to stand up for womens' rights..

Yet she speaks out against them  !

Look what you are reduced to. Both causes are worthy, and here you are bickering about which garnered the greater support, in which place.

They are not opposing issues. The issue is all women's rights.

But why just Manchester?

Why not on in regards to where all the celebrities abused children, or the homes in Wales and in England? Why not in regards to all child abuse. To make it selective is making the other victims of zero importance.
Like I said, they should be many marches against all child abuse.

I'm not knocking ANYONE who organises and marches for human rights, be they for women, children or anyone else.
What I was agreeing with was VOD's point that so few bothered when abuse against minority groups of females was making headlines (or being swept under the carpet, like has been mentioned.

It was estimated that over 4 million people in the USA alone marched at the weekend....they were supported by many other millions across the globe.

The links you posted Thor....sadly the millions of women who were objecting in the US a couple of days ago didn't see the need when the organised walk against child abuse happened in April 2013...(your last link)

Hello everyone!!! My name is Xochi Bustillos, and I had started this page a couple years ago. I organized the first Million March against Child Abuse here in Las Vegas. It was a very small turn out, but it was a start! Last year, I was overwhelmed with personal loss/hardships and wasn't able to run this page or do the march. I'm back and so ready to get back in action!!!! I apologize for being gone so long, but thank you for all the new likes and support, it's really inspired me to come back!!! I can't run this page or this march alone, so if you'd like to be an administrator for the page & march, please send a message to this page's inbox. Who's ready to be a voice for the voiceless?!!!"

Manchester and London were the meeting points for the women (and men) who wanted to show solidarity with the women of America. Probably small groups dotted around the country wouldn't have had the same impact.

So less than  the amount of people turned up yet you discredit those who did by numbers. There is also a march going forward, so there is such events, but lets put this into perspective.

Dibs tried to make a racial point, based on the perpetrators of a crime, not the actual victims, or did you not realise? I mean why did she not say where is the marches for the victims of child abuse?
She was specific on Rotherham and why? Because the guilty were Asian and Muslim. So my point, why not on the celebrity cover up regarding child abuse, does the victims not matter in that situation? To be specific on a mass crime, ignoring others, when the motivation behind the posters claim is disingenuous, is an insult to all the victims of child abuse Syl

This march is specific in regards to a world leader of the most powerful nation in the world, that is going to effect millions of women world wide just by his decisions to stop 600 million. You tell me how the below is not important Syl?

Last year, American money helped 27 million women access contraceptives, preventing two million unsafe abortions and six million unwanted pregnancies, according to analysis by the Guttmacher Institute.

Its not just with the women of America, this is where you are incorrect Syl
Again I think women world wide should march for many different issues that face women and girls

OK...I may be incorrect, but I thought the protest marches were in support of the American women because Путин Америки(a know misogonist) was elected as president.
The marches encompassed all discrimination against women, but it was triggered by Trumps position.

Lol....I just noticed what the greek looking words are covering up.../\

It was a global protest against Trump on "women's" rights
He has already stopped funding of 600 million that goes towards helping women world wide

Surrounded by men in the Oval Office, Trump signed a presidential memorandum that reinstates the Global Gag Rule or Mexico City Policy, forbidding US aid to go to international health organisations that counsel women on abortions.
The move will end the US Government spending about $600 million a year on international assistance for family planning and reproductive health.

It estimates that more than 21 million women a year have unsafe abortions in the developing world, which accounts for about 13% of all maternal deaths.

Last year, American money helped 27 million women access contraceptives, preventing two million unsafe abortions and six million unwanted pregnancies, according to analysis by the Guttmacher Institute.

There has been a huge silence and cover up over FGM in this country......and for decades the abuse of young white kids targeted by Pakistani gangs across the country (not just in Rotherham) was ignored and covered up.

Also organisations that covered up child abuse like the BBC have been known about but ignored.

I took that to be VOD's point.

So it was Trumps position that triggered the marches like I thought.

Don't get the impression I am against ANY marches...whether they consist of millions or dozens, I don't.
I did agree with VOD's point though...I'm not sure why she was redded TWICE for it either.
