Don't Worry Nicko, Veya has no plans to leave

Post by veya_victaous on Tue Oct 04, 2016 12:53 am

Labour Day weekend, so I went out to the farm
I would have said something but Ben was away and I took Friday off too, on short notice.

took a walk around the cemetery and nature reserve
here are some pics, I didn't see any interesting animals this time
some nice birds but all too quick for me to get a half decent photo

@HT
That is a very interesting observation.

Tarago, in southern New South Wales, it's a town of a few hundred people.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tarago,_New_South_Wales

it is part of 'Argle County' named by Governor Macquarie after his native county in Scotland. Although most people know it as 'Canberra region' after the nearest city (about 70 km west)

And one of the Neighbouring areas is called 'New England', as one of the colder and less arid regions of Australia, It reminded the early settlers of their old homes in England too which You can Obvuiously see why Surprised Surprised Surprised

I like it (obviously since I bought a property there even though it is 230km away) it has the full 4 seasons. It will on occasion snow, but can still reach 40C in the summer. plus being pretty remote it gets interesting wildlife.

Quite beautiful! You seem to have out houses and barns too.
What about the plumbing, Veya?  Or do you collect rainwater in butts? I only ask cos it seems isolated.

Gorgeous place! cheers

Other than the trees, that could be central-west Texas. Out there the trees look more like this:

And that pic could be anywhere in England.

Cool

WELL,  now...

Captain James Cook did name the area from a couple of hundred miles south of Sydney to a couple of hundred miles north 'New South Wales' after a few weeks cruising up the coast..

Must have been a particularly wet and green season that year  !

You're very lucky to live in such a lovely location.    We have some stunning countryside up in the North of England where I live but you have to drive out to find it.

Not really HT...I live less than 7 miles from Manchester centre and we are surrounded by green fields and open countryside to the back of us.

The views  in Wales are spectacular, I believe it could rival almost anywhere for scenic views.

the biggest difference i think is that our(New South Wales) winter is like welsh summer, they get snow/heavy frosts and we get sun-browned at the opposite extermes but there is a lot of over lap inbetween.

Also we don't have as many permanent lakes and those that there are are not as big.

I live in the city, so I guess it's different for us.  Ever been to the Forest of Bowland, it's breathtaking in parts.   This is Cromwell's Bridge, the actual bridge Cromwell marched his men across.  I've walked across it...well, tiptoed across with great trepidation.  The Tolkien Way at Hurst Green was the inspiration for the Shire in his books.

What a lovely bridge. Beautiful photographs.
