It doesn't matter what they were saying Tommy, the cat is out of the bag now and it's payback time - we need the money.
It does matter Bru...

Why? They've been rumbled now and we want our money back as soon as possible. Surely you support that at least?

Re: Apple tax!
Are you seriously trying to say that nobody knew about these goings on until now...!?
The labour govt from at least 2004... the eu for all this time too...?
Surely you would think that our labour govt back then in 2004 would be highly concerned about a company operating in the UK and making huge profits, when the company was diverting all these profits to an overseas front office set up in Ireland and subsequently avoiding paying any uk taxes on these profitable amounts...!?

Well as George Osborne obviously didn't know otherwise he wouldn't have made such a fool of himself then I suppose they didn't know at that time. The important thing is Tommy that they have been rumbled now and it's payback time.
You support that surely? or do you think they should get away with it.

Ireland doesn't want $14.5 billion in tax from Apple
Well, this is such a STICKY WICKET and it's going to cost APPLE hugely whatever the outcome; legal fees to fight it - pay out for just walking away! What happens to all those 1.5 million jobs if Apple just pulls up stakes and says 'F-IT' ...done with the EU and all their shenanigan's?Ireland doesn't want $14.5 billion in tax from Apple
by Mark Thompson - CNN Money September 2, 2016: 9:46 AM ETIreland is turning its back on a massive tax windfall from Apple.
The Irish government confirmed Friday it would appeal a European Union order to collect 13 billion euros ($14.5 billion) in back taxes from the tech giant.
The European Commission ruled Wednesday that Ireland had helped Apple artificially lower its tax bill for more than 20 years, assistance that it said constituted illegal state aid for the company.
Apple (AAPL, Tech30) has already said it will appeal. CEO Tim Cook has described the Commission's claim that Apple paid Irish tax of just 0.005% on much of its international profits in 2014 as "total political crap." Irish politicians were divided earlier in the week over whether to pursue an appeal. And it's easy to see why.
As recently as 2010, the country was bailed out by the EU and International Monetary Fund. The extra tax billions would go a long way at a time when Irish officials are worried about the impact of Brexit on their economy. But multinationals such as Apple have created thousands of jobs in Ireland, and many are worried that the flow of foreign investment could be hurt if the government enforces the EU's retroactive tax demand.
That feeling is most acute in Cork, the city in the south of Ireland that is home to Apple's European headquarters. Residents told CNN this week that investment by multinationals had transformed the regional economy, brought prosperity and jobs and kept it afloat during the recession that followed the global financial crisis.
"We had two things that saved us: one was Apple, one was our pharmaceutical industry. Both very much foreign direct investment," said fishmonger Pat O'Connell.
Not everyone has sympathy for Apple's case. Cork politician Donnchadh O Laoghaire supported his party's call not to appeal the tax ruling. He said Ireland's special "sweetheart" tax deal with Apple led to a "substantial amount of lost revenue" and the government shouldn't let the issue drag on.
"In many ways the reputational damage has already been done," he said. "I think we need to accept this decision."

Listen you fucking prick... I have said before and I'll say it again... every company should have a main national office in every country they operate in and all profits made in that country should be subject to the proper rate of tax on it there.
The Ireland office has had all its European business profits channeled through it meaning that no country in Europe has had any tax on profits apple has made in each country!!!
All of this has been going on from at least as early as 2004... under the noses of our labour govt and the eu!!!
And this is just one company who out of dozens who have been allowed to do the same!!!
The eu are not the good guys here... they are just trying to appear good now as a PR exercise since we voted to get out of the corrupt dictatorship and as huge numbers of other people across Europe want out too!!!
