Anyone wishing to involve themselves in politics never do it from altruism but from a desire to self publicise.
Trust none of them.

It would be ludicrous to trust a politician 100 percent, or anybody with power.

Laughing

Ditto...

I would never trust any politician, company boss or corporate CEO..

Nor used car salesmen, plumbers or real estate agents.

Re: How many politicians would you trust 100%?

Post by eddie on Tue Aug 30, 2016 8:58 am

I'd trust the low-key ones, the newbies just starting out. Most People don't go into politics for themselves - lots of them go into politics to try and make a change because they think they have ideas and ways to make a change.

It's only as political life goes on do they realise that they're not making a lot of money and bigger MP's are winning the war and I reckon they get to feel a little helpless.

None of us know what it's like and what a tough fucking job it is to please all the people, go to work with sharks and keep up with the ever-changing and shifting politics of the world.

I think every single one of you always see things in black and white.... "Most MP's are bad because the papers and TV and my own eyes tell me so"

None of you have absolutely any idea what it's like and how easy it can be to look like a baddie when you're swimming in a  pool of sharks.

If you have this impression of MP's may I ask:

WHY DO YOU VOTE FOR PEOPLE YOU DONT TRUST?
WHY DO YOU LOOK AT EVERY SINGLE PERSON AS THE SAME?

It's little wonder some of you are the way you are and think, the way you think.

How sad for you that you love a life of simply saying "No evidence but I trust no one"

How about doctors? Some of them are greedy and manipulative and play to the powers that be.
Are they all like that? Do you think they went into medicine for the right reasons?

I have no hero worship of politicians or anything, but I'd never make a sweeping statement about them either.

I don't trust anyone and they're all corrupt but I'm going to vote for the corrupt ones that think like I do.

Unfortunately the many that lie, fiddle, line their own pockets, swap and change their minds depending on who they believe can further their careers, avoid answering direct questions and waffle about things they know nothing about....tend to disillusion people.

Also Eddie, why should we trust people we don't personally know 100%?
I trust completely my family and close friends.....everyone else I have a right to be wary of.

But when you vote you look at the pros and cons and weigh up the lesser of evils as they say!

In regards to the Americans it's a pretty hard choice atm lol

And then the 'parachute pack' arrive to dribble their 2¢ worth about WYWolfie because that's so much better than having an opinion about the topic!   No   SAD!

Not that here in America we have the 'exception to the rule' about TRUST & MORALITY for our potential electable humans ...but we often do have many that enter into the political arena for valid reasons and end up getting burned out!

By the time he had reached middle age, Max Cleland thought he had nothing to live for. Vietnam had left him a triple amputee. He had lost his seat in the U.S. Senate, and in the grip of depression he had lost his fiancée, too. But instead of giving up, Cleland discovered that he has what it takes to survive: the heart of a patriot.
Doctors did not give Cleland much hope when he returned from Vietnam, but he overcame his despair through his bonds with other wounded soldiers. Against all odds, he realized his dream of becoming a Senator. But after being smeared as unpatriotic in a reelection campaign, a long-dormant case of Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder sent him back to Walter Reed Hospital. Surrounded by the veterans of Iraq and Afghanistan, Cleland again found the faith and endurance to regain control of his life.
In a gut-wrenching memoir that is free of bitterness but frank about the costs of being a soldier, Max Cleland describes with love the ties America’s soldiers forge with one another, along with the disillusionment many of them experience when they come home. Heart of a Patriot is a story about the joy of serving the country you love, no matter the cost—and how to recover from the deepest wounds of war.

Sure the names have changed somewhat from this compiled listing dated 2011 ...but for impact and factual data - it's important to note that not all of my nations elected are from just the legal &/or corporate sector!  That the returning veterans have found a NEED TO stay connected - serve their country after finishing their commitment service period and then run for office to change things that they saw/felt had suffered while fighting for this country!

Well, the question was whether we trust them 100 percent. I don't trust anyone 100 percent, outside of immediate family, and even them, there are a few I don't.

I think 100-percent trust means you don't have to keep an eye on them, and with politicians that would be really stupid. But we do need them, so we pick the ones we trust most.

trust is not binary you trust in percentage or proportion or comparison

you trust one more than another

and lack of trust doesn't equal corruption, it may mean you think they will bend the truth to suit their position.

trusting 100% is saying "I would trust this person's statement over my own eyes and ears."

Post by Ben Reilly on Thu Sep 01, 2016 6:28 am

Okay, so, in a democracy, politicians are supposed to be our employees. You know, they draw their salaries from money we pay in taxes, so there's this whole "accountability to the public" thing that those on the right tend to ignore, thinking we're basically electing our communities' honorary parents or something.

But let's stick with the whole "my taxes pay your salary" thing for a second.

Would you ever hire someone to do something and not check on how good a job they were doing? Well, maybe you would, but you'd be stupid to. Anybody who's getting money from me is going to be held to a certain level of, "are they fucking around while they're supposed to be doing something I'm paying them for?"

Therefore, thus, and hence, no -- you should not trust anybody you've hired 100 percent. But it is a given that you did need to hire somebody.

That's a lot of words that still say: I am voting for someone I don't trust and I will choose the one I trust the most and vote for them becasuse they're saying what I say but I still don't trust them but I'm gonna vote anyway and even if they're found to be corrupt or naughty I'll still vote cos I don't want the other guy to win cos I think I trust him less"

Pfffff. It's still exactly what I've said in my sig.

Yes but he's still saying "I am voting for the one I THINK I trust the most"

And know what? Once people have made their minds up to vote for the "most trustworthy guy" (and let's face it that is simply opinion!) it doesn't matter what that guy does - the voter will still never change their mind and vote for someone else!

Like all the Hilary-voters: they wanted someone else - someone more trustworthy (Bernie) and when that wasn't possible they then chose the next best thing (though she wasn't good enough initially) and their brains have convinced them that now, she's trustworthy enough!!

It's self-brainwashing.

If my guy pulled out, or didn't make it through to the finals.....I wouldn't vote.

Re: How many politicians would you trust 100%?

Oh jee, that makes perfect sense!

Lets give you a scenario.   An election to rule the world between Ghandi, Hilter or John Major (the good, the bad and the indifferent).

You back Ghandi, Major for some reason is doing better, Hitler is last.

Because only 2 contestants are allowed, Ghandi has to drop out.  Ghandi's backers, instead of voting for Major say they are not going to vote, so they don't.   Hitler wins.

The world ends.

Plus you dont vote just on trust

I trust trump will be a fuckwit, that not a reason to vote for him:roll: Rolling Eyes Rolling Eyes Rolling Eyes

you vote (if you are thinking swinging voter) for the policies you most agree with

In a 'Polly Anna' world where everyone would have all of their wishes/wants and desires granted to them by their elected official then it would be such a 'MAGICAL - FAIRY DUST - SPARKLY' place to dwell; but the reality is - THAT'S NOT THE REALITY!

And since we can't mold/shape/expect each potential elected official to suit our very own finite whim or agenda we have to think beyond our own self-serving BOX and what is best for the MAJORITY not the self-serving interest of just a few!  Evil or Very Mad

actually you dont have to
if everyone voted for what was best for them then you end up with what is best for the majority

the problem is you can convince hillshepherds like TM to vote agaisnt their best interests pretty easily just by playing to their bigotry and cowardice.

Pfffff. It's still exactly what I've said in my sig.

But if you were going to hire someone to clean that condemned building you call a house, would you leave your, I don't know, hippie beads and marijuana laying around where they might steal it? Of course not, you'd hide that stuff in, I don't know, some weird stick that a guy with a pierced penis told you he got in Africa, or at least stash them in your grimy bongo drums.

(Sorry, I kind of got carried away with the hippie stereotypes)

Pffff it is not condemned - I simply blew the electrics up on the advice of some IT plonker. (Plug it in he said, it'll be fine he said....)

Erm hippie themed analogy aside, (yore drunk on de Holy spirits me thinks Rolling Eyes ) what I've said is still right and you can act all jaunty but I'm still right. Cool

And I would ever hide my hippie beads in a strange man's stick!
I was raised right.

Do you ever read any of the actual comments that I have criticised, nicko...

OR do you only look at who it is that I've criticised ?

Tommy calls me an idiot, I feturn serve..
Eddie collectively insults virtually everyone preceding her comment above there, I return serve..

People who don't appreciate copping my abuse, should stop so blatantly insulting me, themselves, if they don't want any return serves..

If you live in a house where the electric can be blown by plugging in a computer, you live in a house that should be condemned.

I say this as a guy who used to activate his toaster without realizing the AC was running, only to find myself running to shut off the AC before I lost all power throughout my home.

I am not proud, I only dispense what wisdom I can. With as much style and grace as I can muster.

Rolling Eyes

That sucks about the toaster though. I'd hate my toast-preparations to be so rudely interrupted.

I insult no one unless I'm insulted first and even then, I normally ignore it at first or give it back.
So wolfie talks poo again.

Tbh, I don't give back abuse even half as much as I could, as I lose interest in arguments with people very quickly.
They simply don't have the comebacks to keep me interested Cool
