are you REALLY THAT socially inept?? it goes like this....either the virus is mosquito borne OR sexually transmitted if its mossies then clearly more than one species is inviolved...if its sexual and the article about the number of "unknown" cases is right then they are at it like rabbits. and there is a difference...THAT comment was mere "humerous commentary" and quite acceptable....what YOU DO is direct and insulting ON A PERSONAL LEVEL the two are neither the same nor comparable...as is evidenced by how out of shape you get when handed a dose of your own.....

I cant beleive I'm having to explain THAT to a supposed "adult"

Re: RIO & the ZIKA Virus

SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — "Utah health officials say they're still investigating how a man came down with Zika after caring for his infected father, but the results so far indicate it wasn't spread by a mosquito.

Utah Health Department spokesman Tom Hudachko said Tuesday health workers have collected samples from more than 100 people who lived near the now-deceased father and the results have been negative, indicating the unusual transmission wasn't from the biting bugs.

While the type of mosquito that mainly spreads the virus is not found in Salt Lake County, officials couldn't immediately rule out the possibility that the bugs played a role.

Officials say the father caught Zika abroad, but have been mystified by how his son got sick because the younger man didn't travel to an affected area or have sexual contact with anyone who did."

from... http://kutv.com/news/local/mosquitoes-likely-not-to-blame-for-unique-utah-zika-case

so I suppose, since it can be sexually transmitted there is a possibility that other bodily fluids could carry/trnsmit the disease...

Hold on... the article says he was looking after his father who had zika and that the father had been infected abroad...

So what would be so strange about a mossie biting his father and then biting the son later on and passing it to him...?

Well, as the article says the principle carrier mossie isnt present in utah

so...either another species can be a carrier or he had sex with someone with zika (and lied about it (this IS UTAH after all) OR it is evidently transmissible via some other means directly person to person

of course...being UTAH it could be gods vengeance Rolling Eyes or the mossie fairy..... Evil or Very Mad ......

Mossie transmission is very possible.

Virus can also be present in saliva and urine... and can survive in it for a while outside the body I think...

His dad had it and he was caring for him and therefore in very close contact for long periods of time...

Not really that surprising the son contracted it too...

so either you are now out of your depth...or cannot argue the points...Is that it

IF you consider what we are saying is wrong....THEN say so...AND state how you think we are wrong...WITHOUT the usual diatribe of nonsensical idiocy you pepper your posts at random with...

for instance...HOW do YOU think he may have contracted it..?

the mossie fairy?

or could it be the supposed "authorities" are wrong....

either the prime vector does exist in Utah, despite the fact they cant find it
OR
another species can carry it i.e there is another vector
OR he HAS had sex with a carrier and lied about it (which is not altogether unlikely)
OR transmission IS possible person to person via some undetermined pathway...(and the thought of airborne transmission IS TRUELY scary.....)

so unless you have an alternative theory you are just pissing in the wind

more on possible "other means of transmission"

Study documents live Zika virus in urine and saliva

In findings that hint at other possible person-to-person Zika transmission routes, a research team from Brazil's Fiocruz Institute said they have isolated live virus from the urine and saliva of acutely ill patients in Rio de Janeiro.

In other Zika developments, the US Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) announced two efforts to support eventual immunization, one to develop a new vaccine and the other to help Brazil—the hardest-hit country—boost capacity to make vaccine.
Urine and saliva as transmission threat?

The Fiocruz Institute scientists initially announced their findings in Brazil in early February and published the full results on Jun 24 in Public Library of Science (PLoS) Neglected Tropical Diseases.

Of nine patients sampled, 6 were from a group of pregnant women with rash, and 3—2 men and 1 woman—had sought care for their Zika symptoms at a Fiocruz acute care clinic. Nine urine samples and five saliva samples were collected from the patients. Tests on the samples included reverse-transcriptase polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR), quantitative RT-PCR, nucleic acid testing (NAT), and Vero cell inoculation.

Live virus was found in two samples from different patients, one from urine and one from saliva. For patients who submitted both types of sample, urine viral loads were higher than in saliva.

The authors said their finding in saliva seems to confirm a case report of live virus isolated from the saliva of a patient who got sick in January after returning from the Dominican Republic to Italy, reported in March in Eurosurveillance.

In April, French researchers in an early-online letter to the New England Journal of Medicine reported a sexual Zika transmission case in which they couldn't rule out the possible of saliva as one of the ways the infected man passed the virus to his female partner.

The importance of both body fluids as transmission routes isn't clear and needs more study, the authors wrote. They noted that the acidic pH of urine might restrict viral spread.

For saliva, the isolation of viable virus doesn't always prove that the virus can transmit orally, because saliva typically contains antiviral molecules and is relatively hypotonic, meaning it can lyse enveloped viruses. They said the possibility of person-to-person spread through disruptions in oral mucosa or periodontal pockets, however, should be investigated.

Zika arrived in Brazil in 2014 when infected people turned up there for the 2014 world cup...

Now it will be people going there for the Olympics who will be getting infected while over there, and then taking it back into their home countries all over the world!!!

Unicef, the U.N. children’s agency, reports the number of children killed by violence in Brazil has doubled in the last two decades. As of 2013, the number of youth homicides in the country hit 10,500 per year. And Amnesty International says about 16 percent of Rio’s homicides are carried out by police."

Geeze, you do get twisted up and engaged in your 'Combat Boot Stomping/Bully/Goading' mindset ...is that enjoyable?  LMAO

Ok, lets back your ignorant bus back up and start with the basics; the premise that you've chosen to over look for whatever reason!
Q:What is the study of insects called?

A: Quick Answer
The study of insects is called entomology. Entomology is the study of insects and the relationship that they have with the environment, humans and other organisms. The research done by entomologists contributes greatly to scientific fields, such as forensics, molecular science, biology, agriculture, chemistry and animal and human health. https://www.reference.com/pets-animals/study-insects-called-188c77e973a8e166
2ndly > Do try to follow along, I know it's a lot of reading and it may tax that ability ...but if need be call in BACK UP! Wink
Types of Mosquitoes
 http://animals.howstuffworks.com/insects/mosquito1.htm
**edited for updated figures There are approximately 3,500 species of mosquitoes grouped into 41 genera. Human malaria is transmitted only by females of the genus Anopheles. Of the approximately 430 Anopheles species, only 30-40 transmit malaria (i.e., are "vectors") in nature.

  • Aedes - These are sometimes called "floodwater" mosquitoes because flooding is important for their eggs to hatch. Aedes mosquitoes have abdomens with pointed tips. They include such species as the yellow-fever mosquito (Aedes aegypti) and the Asian tiger mosquito (Aedes albopictus). They are strong fliers, capable of travelling great distances (up to 75 miles/121 km) from their breeding sites. They persistently bite mammals (especially humans), mainly at dawn and in the early evening. Their bites are painful. ZIKA virus breeders
  • Anopheles - These tend to breed in bodies of permanent fresh water. Anopheles mosquitoes also have abdomens with pointed tips. They include several species, such as the common malaria mosquito (Anopheles quadrimaculatus), that can spread malaria to humans.
  • Culex - These tend to breed in quiet, standing water. Culex mosquitoes have abdomens with blunt tips. They include several species such as the northern house mosquito (Culex pipiens). They are weak fliers and tend to live for only a few weeks during the summer months. They persistently bite (preferring birds over humans) and attack at dawn or after dusk. Their bite is painful.

Some mosquitoes, such as the cattail mosquito (Coquilettidia perturbans), are becoming more prevalent pests as humans invade their habitats.
And despite a few 'wise members' dribbling their opinions around here about; 'Zika is spread the same way that Malaria is' ...well - there again is the same issue that has Tommykins & the Foul One going quite ballistic when that's NOT THE TRUTH!  Simply put - Yes, little boys it takes a blood sucking bite from a mosquito - but - BUT is that from just any ole mosquito or from a SPECIFIC TYPE OF 'FEMALE' MOQUITO??? This is where you got derailed and stayed wrecked off into the weedy ditch!
ERORR in the thought processes about the MALARIA carrier mosquito >

Anopheles Mosquitoes
Malaria is transmitted among humans by female mosquitoes of the genus Anopheles. Female mosquitoes take blood meals to carry out egg production, and such blood meals are the link between the human and the mosquito hosts in the parasite life cycle. The successful development of the malaria parasite in the mosquito (from the "gametocyte" stage to the "sporozoite" stage) depends on several factors. The most important is ambient temperature and humidity (higher temperatures accelerate the parasite growth in the mosquito) and whether the Anopheles survives long enough to allow the parasite to complete its cycle in the mosquito host ("sporogonic" or "extrinsic" cycle, duration 10 to 18 days). Differently from the human host, the mosquito host does not suffer noticeably from the presence of the parasites.

General Information

There are approximately 3,500 species of mosquitoes grouped into 41 genera. Human malaria is transmitted only by females of the genus Anopheles. Of the approximately 430 Anopheles species, only 30-40 transmit malaria (i.e., are "vectors") in nature.

Geographic Distribution

Anophelines are found worldwide except Antarctica. Malaria is transmitted by different Anopheles species, depending on the region and the environment.
Anophelines that can transmit malaria are found not only in malaria-endemic areas, but also in areas where malaria has been eliminated. The latter areas are thus constantly at risk of re-introduction of the disease.

So now to un-FOG the way in which you've FOGGED up your minds with this:
Is it the human that makes the Zika Virus or the Mosquito that bites the human and carry's it away!
Zika - Malaria can not become anything without the SPECIFIC FEMALE MOSQUITO THAT HAS TO BITE YOU - DRAW YOUR BLOOD AND THEN INCUBATE HER EGGS!
Humans will only maintain the ZIKA virus within their own body up to 2-3 weeks {on avg} some may suffer symptoms - most have not

The number of patients in the United States who are infected with Zika is growing.
The 14 locally transmitted Zika cases documented in Miami add to the increasing number of cases reported in the United States this year. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), there are 1658 total cases of Zika in the United States as of July 27, 2016, of which 15 were sexually transmitted. While the first infections reported in the United States were contracted after travel to affected regions, the recent cases in Miami were transmitted locally via mosquito bites.
GETTING TESTED
The CDC recommends the use of real-time reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction (rRT-PCR) testing for diagnosis, which can detect Zika RNA in blood and urine samples for up to 2 weeks after symptom onset. Although a positive rRT-PCR result indicates infection, a negative result does not rule out Zika, so other antibody tests, such as immunoglobulin M, can be used for confirmation.
The CDC recommends that all pregnant women be tested for infection at each prenatal care visit if they live in an active transmission area or if their sexual partner has traveled to one. Here is guidance for collecting and submitting the samples.
It can take weeks or longer to get testing results back, but a newly approved Quest Diagnostics version of the Zika test is expected to broaden testing capacity and increase speed of results.  http://www.medscape.com/viewarticle/867109
I'm just a human trying to avoid those 'UNKNOWN' darling insects that seem to have the ability to make drastic changes in my life and I've got no control over what they do once their BITE got into my blood stream!
Gee-whiz if proving that all mosquito's were at fault - all ticks carried the Rocky Mountain Spotted Disease or the other 4 new variety are recreating the Lyme's virus into something that they still DO NOT KNOW WTF to do or how to treat it; well my life would be just SUPER DUPER - PEACHY KEEN!

The bigger question with all of this is 'WHY', why does it matter so much to either of you '?', neither of YOU are dealing with an autoimmune system that is whacked up and has to be EXTEMELY cautious about any and all mosquito/tick type of blood borne disease that is now spreading in 'MY COUNTRY'?

Yet, you've attacked me for trying to lead the Village Idiot to the light of knowledge with what information I had access to as fast as it was coming available off of the internet and he still was arguing with me - twisting what I was trying to explain to him into a convoluted F'd up mess.

And then just as I'd given up {despite all of the parachute bombing from your groupies} I put his sorry ass on ignore --- then your arrived with your FOUL - INSULTING COMBAT BOOTS ON and acted ...well as you always have = Mentally disturbed and unable to read and reason!
Now that's FUCKED UP!

All this stuff about the "Village Idiot" is really offensive. It's just another way to call someone "retarded" isn't it?

and YOU 4 ever are talking shite

so ...what do you suggest

YOU are large on mouth but short on substance as ever

A human with malaria or zika can be bitten by a mossie which will then be a host of the virus and then the mossie can bite another human and pass virus to them.

This is the bit 4ever is struggling to understand...

Amusing, how you insult and then expect a rational answer and then continue with the 'primary vector' assumptions that have been answered multiple times in all of the posts - all of the data from Florida - all of the articles from the CDC ...and it's somehow my fault that you're unable to assimilate the information
And then you finish off your mental dribble with a grand finale 'COMBAT FOOT STAMPING' - demanding an reply!
Now that's FUCKED UP!
I'd suggest taking your piss poor immature attitude and contacting the CDC directly ...you seem mentally ill prepared to have an adult discussion with me about the articles and information that I've provided and IT'S NOT MY DATA - IT'S THE CDC'S DATA.  But your now behaving as ignorant as Tommykins and it's just painful and sad to read.

so in other words you havnt a clue

what part of I DONT CARE WHAT the CDC says

its "official line", like most govt bodies is neither conclusive nor particuarly informative

what part of what I say do YOU have a problem with

IF the primary vector isnt prsesnt then there MUST be either a secondary vector OR the virus is transmissible "person to person"

and

talk about spouting rubbish

IF (in reply to your post earlier) the human host clears the virus in 2-3 weeks...how come the advice given is to practice safe sex for 6 months????

well???

and if you read what I have posted you will see that somewhere in there is quoted 11-12 weeks....
