If the insurance has been paid out for their loss, technically the insurance company has an equitable claim on them.

Cool

YOU could always phone (or email) the Insurance company, and ask what their policy is :

Return the money, or pass on the returned goods to the insurer?
After all, if the insurance company either auctions those goods or donates them to charity, they will be doing so at a greatly reduced value..

THEN, there is always the third option -- give away those returned items to a friend or relative, both 'staying mum' about it.
Working on the assumption that what the insurance company doesn't know probably won't hurt them..
Of course, that's assuming that the police or some official isn't involved ?

Easy to be all moral in theory but practice is different.

I have paid house and contents insurance for decades and never claimed...so.if it was me who had inadvertently lost something, claimed, then found it later....I would keep schtum.

I made no moral judgement.....

At last, a real person has ansud, not a pretendy moralist who no one believes anyway.

What good would it do to send used goods to an insurance company in these circumstances.

Obeying the law = "pretendy moralist"

That's a first! Send me a retainer when you get served. Razz
