If you came to my house you'd have to take your shoes off. Can't see your problem tbh

I wouldn't ask someone to take their shoes off, and certainly not in that manner.

In Japan they insist you enter the home shoeless.  But not in the west.  I'd be a bit miffed too, Stromee.

They're originally called Flamenco boots, because they are for flamenco dancing.  They came from Seville and usually have heavy, Cuban heels to get that percussion sound.  They have tight-fitting elastic along the ankle-sides, to firmly attach them to the foot for kicks and steps.  And they have no  above-the-ankle boot that would inhibit leg or foot movement.

Bally's makes a devine pair, in black or brown, and they sell them at the store in Kensington, in London.

Idea

The heels could have been too high, relative to your height ?

Forcing you to tilt forward -- you then lean backwards, possibly without thinking, to compensate and straighten back up..

Hence the aching back (most likely in the lumbar region ?).

Cool

Actually, that style looks like Stockman's boots...

Elastic sided;  with 'Pony club'  height heels..

R.M.Williams  and  Blundstones  are a couple of well known Australian brands.

Both of which are exported to the USA, Japan, Britain and Europe..

Chelsea boots date back from the Victorians but became iconic with Mods in the sixties. They don't have high heels and are nothing to do with Spanish dancing. You'll find a page about them on wiki.

geek

I DON'T DOUBT  that British styles of boots (and raincoats and hats..) from the 18th and 19th centuries were carried over into Australia...

AFTER ALL that's where most of the bootmakers here were immigrating from at the time..

I SUGGEST that anybody who doubts it,  should do a Google images search on 'pony club riding boots' and maybe 'stockmans boots'.

Stormee, I would have done exactly the same as you and walked away....ignorant cow.
I would never object to taking off my shoes before I went into someones house, I will offer if they have light carpets, but I would not be spoken to like that.

Re: Cheeky Bleeda.

I'm only saying what flamenco boots were designed for.  The tight elastic in the sides was there to provide grip during the abrupt dance steps.  British bootmaker J. Sparkes-Hall, copied the design from Spain and came up with his 'Ankle-Boots' for walking and light riding in 1851.  In the 1960's they were renamed Chelsea Boots as boots came back into style with Beatles and hippy styles.  They were sold on Kings Road (hence the name) and associated with the west London set.

Knock-offs of the Chelsea Boot have spread around the world.  Because of the elastic side panels they provide great grip and the design has been adapted for work boots, particular by the Austrailian Blundstones.  However, because the elastic side panels are not as rugged and don't last, they tend toward cheaper lines of work shoes, not made to last.

I think it's a bit weird to expect someone to take their shoes off, unless they're obviously muddy. I don't think there's anything indecent about not taking them off.

Me neither.  My home is a place I live in, not a show house.   I respect someone's wishes to remove my shoes if they have new carpets etc.   But I'm not that anal about my own home.   I'd expect them to wipe their shoes though.   Besides, I have mostly stripped floorboards in my house.

And you walk in all that, then want to walk with that all over your shoes, in my house where I walk barefoot and eat a crisp that I may drop on my floor, where my babies have crawled and put their toys...?

It's not being dirty because you let people into your house wearing their shoes.   You don't see people taking their shoes off to go into restaurants or other public places where people eat, drink and breathe.   Also, people's feet are none to clean even without their shoes.   Bacteria on feet can be just as scummy trust me.   How do you know someone doesn't have athletes foot or verrucas or fungal nail infections.  Socks won't save your kids from any of that.
