Menstrual Leave

Post by Fuzzy Zack on Thu Mar 03, 2016 10:42 am

First topic message reminder :

U.K. COMPANY TO INTRODUCE MENSTRUAL LEAVE 'PERIOD POLICY'

Periods are still something of a taboo subject, especially in the workplace, but a community and arts center in Bristol is set to become the first company in the U.K. to introduce menstrual leave, allowing women time off work during their monthly cycle.

http://europe.newsweek.com/menstrual-leave-uk-company-introduce-period-policy-432588?rm=eu

Good idea?

What about leave for men and itchy bullocks?

You gotta learn yourself in these matters.

It's very common on forums. A "new" person picks out the most gullible member, and then gives them little snippets of personal info via PM which might be true, or might not be true, and then sits back whilst they give away their whole life history. Laughing

lol so very true

Oh I've got that and I know a real person when I meet one.   And there are reasons why I know she is who she says she it, which I will not divulge here as I will not betray a confidence.

You mean you know what she's told you. Cool

I'm not telling you why I know and you can go on about it all day, and of course you will say that is not trolling.

You don't have the slightest idea what we have talked about, you'd never keep up with it.

Hmmm, I'm thinking the #2 has a huge 'need to know' and her jealousy in having missed out on a sincere friendship {due to her own ass-swipe attacks} is leaving her 'GREEN' with envy that she's not included in our 'GROUP' and other discussions!

That would clearly go over her head as she's not capable of understanding educated humans having intelligent discourse with each other and enjoying getting to know some one new!

Calling you childish names; tsk - tsk, like that's doing anything but proving my POINT!  For a #2 troll to stalk my every post and make such rude/crude references to any thing I've said --- hell, she even has attacked my thoughts about the 'beheaded child' on the other topic!  Clearly, this 'hero worship' of #2 has been eating away at her... **sigh** really sad, when you have NO LIFE!  I love you

Let's get back on topic.

I think this a terrible idea. Firstly, because if you have a huge company that employs a lot of women, you could potentially be having dozens of members "off sick"
Secondly, some women will abuse it!
Thirdly, it's part of life and the pains aren't usually that bad - usually if you're period pains are that bad, it's because you may have an underlying health issue like endometriosis etc and then you'd be under the hospital.
If that was the case then time off would and should be allowed.

Nobody brought up family members except the poster themselves Eddie

lol and ended up making a very big mistake by their reply

I only asked a question lol based off the reply, I did not accuse lol

I originally said

Like I say both sexually and mentally immature and the sure sign of someone who has never kissed a girl let alone had sex lol

Yes I think strong painkillers usually do the trick but let's say for some women they don't? Then a letter from a GP or hospital consultant would suffice for sick leave.

I just think it's going to be taken advantage of. I really do.
It's something women have to deal with and they do say that light exercise does period pains the world of good....so perhaps going to work mKes some women feel better?

I would think it would be quite rare for codeine to have no effect. You can get stronger stuff on prescription as well.

Just goes to show you don't ever really know who you're dealing with on forums, yes?

Harotio stated >>> you keep banging on about the same old thing regard trolls #1 and #2.   Nobody cares.

You're right I don't care.

I had replied >>> No, 'YOU' don't care; you cannot and do not speak for everyone!!!
Now that would be, well just highly unlikely and totally inflammatory too...and I never assumed to post in such wide range generalizations!  LOL

Well, color me so shocked at how you've flip/flopped from "who gives a 'F*ck" to this thread where you firmly repeated the same feeling and yet  you continue to DRONE on about it --- similar to almost being ANAL RETENTIVE/OCD

You do appear to have become enamored/fixated/entranced/attached to assuming that 'I' must post like you - reply like you - think &/or react like you; and now your 'I DON'T CARE' has become a trolling need to know

But my    seems to think --- YOU LIE and now you won't get an answer...SOO SCREW YOU!  You do make me LMAO though! I love you

Well here's my take on this policy.

I've suffered terribly for years, more or less since I was 14. The only relief I got was when I was pregnant and then 3 years ago I had a endometrial ablasion which took care of some things but not others.

I am not going to go into graphic details - suffice to say that nothing worked whatsoever and there was no specific underlying condition. I was just one of those unfortunates who suffered from menorrhagia.

It's not a made up condition, it's not discrimination, it's real and it takes you out of life for a few days every month.

If women can get a letter from their doctors stating that they have this, then it should be good enough. It's not a sickness, it is a chronic condition.

Agreed and back up there on Page#1 {before this became yet another non-stop poke at me} I'd posted this >>>
What the #1 'Wrong On Every Level' seems oblivious to:
This is about a 'blood borne issue' --- not just some 'Oh, I've got a headache/back ache/I stubbed my toe' type of pain issue --- BLOOD is considered a BIO-Hazardous Contaminated Problem!!!  Why all emergency personnel wear GLOVES... Rolling Eyes

And all of the additional issues that both Horatio & Sassy have used for supporting the change in this POLICY...we have a 'Medical Leave' policy in the USA; granted not every company offers it - not every company even has paid sick days to use or lose - not every company will allow ANY ABSENTEEISM - PERIOD

I hired a young man that was a 'hemophiliac' {aka a bleeder}; he disclosed it on his employee packet and we discussed the proper protocol to handle the 'WHAT IFS' it should happen while he was on the job.  Since we provided X amount of sick leave days to accumulate {but they were to be used or lost at the end of the year or we'd buy them back as a bonus}...he had times where he had to leave ASAP from his job site ---
Humans have specific medical conditions that require specific methods to protect those that work around them and with the emergency staff that rushes in to care for them. BLOOD is one of those specific issues!

It is a GOOD THING for companies that can afford to offer this!

Well, perhaps #1 troll and #2 troll is more polite than some of the other names used by others.  So how about we broaden it out to a general question to everyone like why do they use specsaver, Nazi, or Stassi for example?  Is #1 troll any worse than those?   And if not, why are you making a particular fuss about them?

Well, perhaps #1 troll and #2 troll is more polite than some of the other names used by others.  So how about we broaden it out to a general question to everyone like why do they use specsaver, Nazi, or Stassi for example?  Is #1 troll any worse than those?   And if not, why are you making a particular fuss about them?

Pot kettle, how you have the audacity???????????????? you start things off EVERY time and you mouth is vile.

Same goes to you Stormee

Oh do stick you head in anthill and bury it, this coming from a racist idiot who started the thread about ethnic cleansing and slyly pretended he didn't know what it meant.  Yah right!

Well I am going to get on with the debate as its evident someone needs to be issued with a strong talking too, I will leave that to the admin team

Agree with Cass on her point

Again this is what I said dependent on the condition and how it is with the individual based on their pain threshold

There is so many conditions are there where people suffer regular pain, which I feel is going to lead in this company having others feel hard done by

Fuzzy Zack wrote:U.K. COMPANY TO INTRODUCE MENSTRUAL LEAVE 'PERIOD POLICY'

Periods are still something of a taboo subject, especially in the workplace, but a community and arts center in Bristol is set to become the first company in the U.K. to introduce menstrual leave, allowing women time off work during their monthly cycle.

http://europe.newsweek.com/menstrual-leave-uk-company-introduce-period-policy-432588?rm=eu

Good idea?

What about leave for men and itchy bullocks?

Picture this.    Griping stomach pains, like the worse bellyache you've ever had, only tenfold.  Flooding blood.   Nausea sometimes with vomiting.  Headache.   Just a few of the symptoms a woman has to go through each month, particularly young women who haven't had kids yet.  The muscle spasms can be excruciating, akin to childbirth.

Itchy bollocks?   You clearly don't have a girlfriend or wife.

The symptoms you describe certainly can happen ...but not to the majority of women. Periods are a part of a womans life for decades, I don't think they should be treated like a recurring illness which warrants regular time off work.

Imagine having no choice but to stick your hands down your underwear in the middle of staff meeting or crucial presentation.

Not sure if you're PMS'ing right now or you always have sand in your vagina but you're being utterly sexist.

I'd rather not picture it if you don't mind. Laughing

lol!

Eeeww...me neither.
