Flint, Michigan: 100,000 left with water too poisonous to drink or even cook with

Post by Guest on Sat Jan 16, 2016 9:43 am

First topic message reminder :

Water towers in America usually boast the names of the communities they serve, often with a mascot or slogan; totems of civic pride. Not here. Smudged by driving snow on a recent morning, this one merely proclaims: FLINT WATER PLANT. And this one stands for betrayal, hardship and scandal.Cast your eyes down to the neighbourhoods beyond; homes with sagging roofs and dilapidated porches, and you will see them, bundled-up figures shuffling down the streets. Some carry their loads in their arms, others push trollies through the drifts. The state of emergency is a week old now and this is their new daily grind: fetching bottled water from wherever they can find it.

So more childish abuse, which there is little point entertaining.
Like I have said the history of the US is steeped in backward thinking and hence why rational people will say all are cukpable to a disaster here, only those led by emotions will seek to cast blame only one way.
You have given me no lessons but the worst excuses possible, where again everyone is culpable here, your hatred and venomn of rpeople of the right clouds your ability to reason here

Anwaym when you learn some manners then we will continue, until then I am not going to entertain someone so childish

You like to excuse people where as I place the blame firmly on all everyone who failed here.

Obama is quite literally like any other US President a resounding joke, as like I say the US is so corrupt in its polictics its beyond belief. The very fabric of society is based on a white Middle class family steeped in prejudice whether from religious attitudes or racial. The US is so far behind the UK on so many social aspects its astounding even today the US is still steeped in so much prejudice.

The Federal government is not even in the equation. Your comments are as ignorant as if someone were saying that the government of Canada is responsible.

The Federal government is not even involved. This is the problem created by Republicans who have taken over many state Governments, and initiated programs adverse to black populations.

You have proven your utter ignorance. But you still keep digging.

More childish abuse.
The Federal Governement was involved as proved by the evidence of emails warning to do something about the problem, where as seen they never made sure this did happened and relied on people to act off an email, that makes them as cuplable to failure here
So funny how when the shoe is on the other foot the yanks get very abusive and defensive about their country.
Do you think it might teach them a lesson to think first before how they continually bash the UK?

I doubt it

It's not poor manners, Didge. It's impatience with an ignorant, but recalcitrant and obstreperous student.

Not "involved", but aware.  They were watching, sure, like a father watches his children to make sure they don't get into trouble.

Bur remember, the Federal government is frozen by a Republican-dominated Congress. so all the right-thinking people in the Federal Government can do is observe.  It's a total puzzle, and you have to be aware of every piece.

Does knowledge equal complicity?  The Jews knew they were being exterminated during WWII.

My god!  They were complicit in their own deaths.

Illogical nonsense again.
The Democrats are in position of power and thus aloe to act all the way up to the President.
The Jews were not in a position of power under the Nazi's and were thus unable to do anything other than sacrificing their lives, of which many did like in situations like the Warsaw Ghetto Uprising.

Hence your poor attempt to make comparable is in fact incomparable.

So once again not only have you but Ben used the holocaust to make the most appalling and inaccurate attempt to compare something that does not even compare at all. The regressives reach new levels of depravity it seems.

Well, you've caught the metaphor so as suspected, you lack knowledge of the US.  No party is in a position of power in the US when there is a stalemate in the branches of government.  The Democrats only control the executive.  Congress is controlled by Republicans in both houses and they control the Supreme Court.

The US Constitution mandates that it is a government of "limited powers".  It was designed that way because, as I've said elsewhere, the Constitution takes a negative view of mankind, and is designed to frustrate "direction action" of the kind you are suggesting.  As is said so often, it is a system of "checks and balances".

My god...this is stuff we teach in the third grade in the US.  A university educated Brit doesn't know this??

Yet again feeble excuses trying to divert blame, when all are to blame here
Again many can propose bills and even emergency bills if nothing is being acted on.
You though wish to excuse those who knew of this problem and only sent some emails they did not force through actions on, which makes them complicit, end of story.
Your attempt to compare actually showed you are emotional compremised, which is the case when the shoe is on the other foot and its your nation under the hammer blows from someone like me who easily knows what he is talking about. I doubt it will make you think twie before you constantly slag off the Brits, but the more you do the more I will make you very squeamish on the US, making you ultra defensive, as I have easily done so here

Have no idea also why you are invoking a myth, called God either.
That is not going to save you or bail you out here.

Why did you do that, because some things matter to all of us, but as seen you deride people when it matters to them, but as seen you react in the very same way when something matters to you.

Eddie its cool, he lost control and was emtionally compremised, it shows some are happy to deride others, but get very defensive over things they have strong views on. Sort of taught them both a life lesson to when they mock and deride the Brits, where both of them fell for the bait very easily and where both got abusive and very defensive.

6 Michigan State Officials are Charged in Flint's Water Crisis

Post by Guest on Fri Jul 29, 2016 11:59 pm

BREAKING: Six State Officials Criminally Charged In Flint Water Crisis

On Friday morning, six Michigan state employees were criminally charged in court for their involvement in the Flint water crisis that began in April of 2014, according to the Detroit Free Press. The water became contaminated when the city switched from a treated water supply from Detroit to raw water from the Flint River, which was treated at the Flint Water Treatment Plant. By failing to add the appropriate chemicals to the water, lead leaked into the water and into Flint resident’s homes, contaminating drinking water.
The accused include Michigan Department of Health and Human Services employees Nancy Peeler, Corinne Miller and Robert Scott, as well as Michigan Department of Environmental Quality workers Liane Shekter-Smith, Adam Rosenthal and Patrick Cook, according to testimony given in Flint’s district court Friday morning.
According to reports, Michigan Attorney General Bill Schuette discussed the charges at 11:30 a.m. EST with Royal Oak attorney Todd Flood during a news conferences at University of Michigan, Flint.

Schuette told reporters Friday:
‘Some people failed to act, others minimized harm done and arrogantly chose to ignore data, some intentionally altered figures … and covered up significant health risks.’
Shekter-Smith was fired from MDEQ over the scandal. According to her attorney, Brian Morley, the charges came as a surprise:
‘I’m really surprised to see criminal charges. I don’t see how this gets to criminal conduct. Lawsuits, I can understand.’
Maintaining his client’s innocence, he told Detroit Free Press:
would be very surprised if it ever turns out that Ms. Shekter Smith did anything wrong.’
Back in April of this year, Schuette announced felony charges against two Michigan Department of Environmental Quality officials and one City of Flint official. He also promised further investigations and more charges to follow.

Flint employee Mike Glasgow pleaded no contest to misdemeanor charges and is cooperating with the investigation. Two DEQ employees, Stephen Busch and Mike Prysby, are currently awaiting preliminary examinations.
According to the Detroit Free Press:
‘Glasgow admitted to manipulating the data by removing the two (2) results from his report and falsely stating the source of the test samples. He admitted that the manipulation resulted in lowering the reported lead levels.’

Well, the Back Flush is actually going to happen; I'm rather hoping that the only water they are allowed to drink is that 'lead based' crap they lied and left those 1,000 of residents exposed to and all those little kids! Twisted Evil

Razz

LOOKING at the level of incessant and mule-headed ignorant and plain rude bullshit flowing forth from both Dodger and eddie back in January, it looks like those two were apparently both imbibing in some quite potent 'self medication' at that time  !!!

It's quite telling and interesting as well just how much utter BS was going on long before my membership ...
But to read how the community's worst attackers attempt to award me their disruption/vile attackers title when they've been honing their skills for years prior to my arrival is their stock & trade.  Mindless and can't provide any worth while contributions but they can parachute in for an attack at any given provacation      they excel at it too!

Oh yes...you are neither the cause, nor the ultimate result of this. For Wolf and me, the same players go back at least three different boards...with the same arguments and tone.

For most here, it's four or more boards, beginning years ago with Sky. And of course, there are parallel boards, such as Flap, going on, but which Wolf and I have never been members.

You are nowhere near the cause. In fact, you might say you walked into a buzz saw. But no matter...you handle yourself well, and you are a pleasure to have around. Laughing
