Historic climate change accord

Post by *THE Ben Reilly* on Sun Dec 13, 2015 6:30 am

PARIS — A global climate pact lauded as a "historic turning point" was adopted Saturday by world leaders after two weeks of intensive talks.

"This is a tremendous victory for all of our citizens," U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry said at the summit after the landmark agreement passed. "We have taken a critical step forward."

The first-ever international accord, agreed to by nearly 200 nations, requires all countries to take steps to reduce greenhouse gas emissions. Leaders burst into cheers after it was passed, many hugging each other with tears in their eyes.

Yea!

Gimme it simply Ben. What does this mean and what will change?

I'm all for anything that helps, and an advocate of being "green"

If you want to know what the final agreement is, it's here:

http://www.scribd.com/doc/293088047/Paris-Agreement-Comparison-of-the-final-draft-with-the-previous-draft

It's bloody complicated to say the least, but it doesn't involve handing over money to anyone.

I saw on bbc this morning that the EU will be giving over 2 billion Euro's to undeveloped countries.

That's some of our money isn't it?

There's usually no good plan that doesn't involve money

climate chamge stuff is and always has been about giving money above and beyond foreign aid to developing coutries, via the fat cat institutions, who can skim off their 10%

why else do you think everything that is being done actually takes money of everyone else

carbon "levies"
energy levies
green levies

and YET at the same time every obstacle is put in the way of the man wanting to actually do something about it,
in the form of legislation only allowing "certain persons" to install solar systems???

Oh and BTW

its too late

the poles WILL melt
and storms increase
and the middle east will cook
and war will ensue over water in that benighted region

and moreover...you cant fight nature

what they wont tell you si that although mans activities have made things worse than they otherwise would be

the climate is warming anyway Rolling Eyes

and to strengthen my point about money, the govt has reaped in billions already from "carbon taxes"...which all of us pay for in high enery prices, and on the cost of EVERYTHING

so....

why isnt there BILLIONS...available to deal with the effects of climate change as demonstrated in cumbria?????
who's back pocket has it landed in ???

Over the years the amount of money we and others have given to Africa they should be no starvation or water shortage in those countries, Year after year it's the same thing, starving babies covered in flies pulling at your heart strings, the billions of pounds they are given, the Bob Geldof and Bono appeals have come to nothing. What in Gods name happens to all this money they are sent? IT goes into the pockets of the dictators and so called charities who take their cut before any of it reaches the people who need it. If the Catholic Church agreed to family planning and instead of preaching about the Lord gave out contraceptives to the people it might help a bit. You see all these women holding starving babies and think if living conditions are so bad why the fuck do you keep knocking out kids? I'LL never understand it.

Good intentions, but it has no teeth. We'll see.

Why do you think that? I'd like to see us reverse climate change. I really try to do my bit but is it enough or too late? Sad

Agree with Quill, has no teeth.  some of the things the Conservatives are doing that are undermining green energy are illegal under this.  Who is going to do anything about it?

tis true sassy

you should see the hoops i have had to jump through to get my solar system okayed and installed

because I want to do it (otherwise It isnt affordable nor will it do what I want it to do...)

and all that is the fault of legislation introduced by labour, on a false non evidence supported motion of ONE labour mp.

read all about how part P was made up and introduced....
and ythe shalolow flimsy "evidence" for its adoption

even sparky's who you would have though would have hated it, actually despise it...

i finally went for the french method of dealing with it
