What do you call this/how do you pronounce it?

Post by *THE Ben Reilly* on Tue Nov 24, 2015 10:15 pm

I'll give my answers first:

"Coke"

"Puh-KAHNS"

"Shopping cart" (older Texans may call it a "buggy")

"Crawdad/crawdaddy"

"Firefly"

"Bucket"

"Tennis shoes" (even though these are for basketball)

"Hockey"

"Fixing" a meal ("Fixing" can also mean "preparing to do something," so it's perfectly grammatical where I'm from to be "fixing to fix a meal")

Ugh, I hate the "pee-can" pronunciation Smile I've been hearing a commercial on the radio all day for "pee-can pie," that's actually what inspired the thread.

over here if you were to tell someone you ere "fixing" a meal, you would likely get arrested on a charge of threatening to poison

its ok to "fix" a car
but not a race

iots ok to fix your house

but not an election

etc...
