The Triumph Bonneville is now liquid-cooled for the first time in its 57 year history

Hang on to your mustaches young urban bikers, the legendary Triumph Bonneville has been revamped for 2016 — and it is liquid-cooled for the first time in the model's 57 year history.

What some may see as an iconic British motorcycle losing some of its authenticity (after all they ditched carburetion a few years ago) others will see a move to bring the Bonneville truly into modern times while keeping the classic cafe aesthetic.

No doubt, it still looks totally badass and tucks away the radiator better than Harley-Davidson's new "Street" line which in some ways was meant to compete with a major Bonneville purchasing demographic.

Considered a superbike in the sixties and early seventies with a 650cc motor, in 2016 you will have the option of a Bonneville with a 1200cc engine that makes 54% more low-end torque than the previous version which ran a 899cc power plant, according to Triumph.

Triumph will make five versions of the motorcycle, a T120 standard classic version, a murdered-out T120 Black, a Thruxton cafe racer, a sweet high performance Thruxton R version and a 900cc Street Twin.

So no matter if you envision yourself racing over to the Ace Cafe in London or cruising through Devonshire whilst decked out in tweed, these new bikes likely have you covered.

(If you really want to get into the weeds on specs, head over to the British Triumph site as the American site doesn't have much, if any, information on the new line.)

I used to ride a 600cc Norton 99 with the famous Featherbed frame, the Manx Norton won the Isle of Man TT races several times.

My brother had a Triumph TT. Nice bike. My older brother and I rode BMWs...an R-600 and an old R-750, sidecar frame.

Got to mention I had several bikes, including a Vincent Black Shadow [1000cc job that weighed a ton]BSA Gold Star, BSA Road Rocket and an old water cooled Scott Squirrel.

Wow...a Vincent Black Shadow.  That and the Ariel Square Four were the two greatest four-bangers going in bikes.  They are collectors pieces now.
