Scream Research Could Lead to Scarier Alarms

Post by Guest on Fri Jul 17, 2015 2:11 pm

The sound of a person screaming is so powerful that it instantly activates the brain’s fear circuitry, new research documenting the “acoustic signature of screams” finds. Different types of screaming — including wails from distressed babies — all have a property called roughness, which refers to how fast a sound’s volume changes. Duplicating that quality, outlined in the latest issue of the journal Current Biology, could lead to everything from scarier films to new and improved alarm sounds.

actually, I'm only joking here didge...I DID consider it, but came to the conclusion that in fact it could potentially trivialise a very real scream for help...so decided against it....

however immagine there you are ..intent "merely" on stealing a vehicle when suddenly you are accused publicly and very loudly of rape...... would YOU hang around......

Yes I would hang around, because I was innocent. To flee would only serve to prove guilt.
The same works the other way also. Truth always plays harder on guilt when we suffer being seen as guilty.
You offer questions on emotion not real situations

point taken, but the thief already has a guilty complex does he not...he knows he's guilty of something.....
now THIS you see IS psychology....messing with peoples reactions and fears......however irrational....not particularly scientific, but non the less real in its effect
