Who suffers most from Islam-inspired terrorism? Empty Who suffers most from Islam-inspired terrorism?

The (perhaps) surprising answer is, Islamic terrorism hurts Muslims far more than any other group in the world.

This includes actual murders -- Al Qaeda has killed about eight times as many Muslims as non-Muslims. ISIS has killed or kidnapped less than 100 Westerners total, but killed more than 9,000 Muslim civilians in just the first eight months of 2014.

You also have to factor in the fallout from the 9/11 attacks -- the wars in Afghanistan and Iraq. In Iraq there were about 4,800 coalition deaths, compared to well over 200,000 Iraqi civilians killed. In Afghanistan the death count is about 3,400 coalition deaths to 26,000 civilian deaths.

To go further, there were at least 500 hate crimes committed against Muslims in the U.S. in 2001 alone, and roughly 100 to 150 per year every year since: http://rt.com/usa/231839-Muslim-hate-crime-religion/

Add to that unlawful detentions of innocent Muslims, racial profiling, violations of the right to privacy -- not to mention polling that reveals attitudes such as this:

Who suffers most from Islam-inspired terrorism? 253-1

... and it's clear that Muslim terrorists are hurting the community they claim to defend far more than they're hurting the West.

islam seems to have walked a fine line for many years now but it seems the lines have been seriously crossed and if islam does not go all out to stop the terrorism, to decry all who do these acts, they will be tarred with the same brush.........

Is Islam a person now?
Do you mean Muslims must do more to prevent extremism?

I said they need to stop terrorism, they need to hand up these preachers and groups who would bring these atrocities to the world.

The world needs to see islam cleaning it's own mess up, if it really is peaceful and really wants peace those with power and influence need to be seen to be saying loud and clear stop the terrorism....

You said "Islam" as if it is an entity.
Its people that act and thus it is Muslims that need to resolve issues

While I don't agree with treating individuals like they're part of some homogeneous group either, I think in this case it has to be the global Islamic community that takes the initiative in stopping extremism -- no other group is in as good a position to, and no other group is being more badly harmed by said extremism.

As the writer pointed out in the Daily Beast article I cited, this information itself is a weapon against ISIS. If more civilians in the Muslim world knew these facts, terrorists would lose a lot of support.

Exactly Ben, the islamic community from the very top to the bottom need to come out and say in the news, news papers and the mosques this has to stop...
